I'm new at the canoing game. Every year the black powder I belong to has a primitive canoe in trip. Last year was my frist year. Not having a canoe, I went with a friend. He gave me the bow paddle(said I could less damage there: he was right). We canoe up a small river(about 3 miles). Then into Mud Lake. There's a small island in the middle where we set up camp. The only equiptment we have is what we bring with us. All of it must be pre-1840. I have been on many primitive trips before, but nothing like this. The canoes added a whole new leval of enjoyment. This will be my last camoe trip.
