View the details of this row. A Beautiful Mind A movie by Ron Howard
Well, it said Books AND MOVIES!!

As most of you know by now (after the Golden Globe Awards), this is an excellent movie.  There's no way to describe it to make you want to go see it.  Who wants to go see a pic about Mental illness, why you'd have to be crazy (whoops?)

Anyway, just go see it and enjoy it.

"The Millionaires" is a wonderful book..as are all of this wonderful new authors works. He has a warm style of writing. He makes you feel for the characters and that is the key to a good book. His two previous books include " The First Counsel" and "Dead Even". I think you will be impressed.

This series is awesome and if you are into romance. The author has created a species not human and not vampire. Based inmodern times the "Carpathians" seek out the lifemates they literally cannot live without.  Very sexy stuff.  There are about 8 books so far in the series.  I highly recommend them

View the details of this row. OUTLANDER SERIES Diana Gabaldon
I was given the first of this series by a friend and after being prodded...... I found that I was amazed at how wonderfully written and researched they were! Historical novels are not really my favorite choice, but these have become some of my most treasured books.  The gist of the story is a strange one to describe, it involves time-travel, and takes place in Scotland back during the 17th century.  I don't normally read science fiction either...so bear with me here.

It begins with an English nurse, just returning from serving during WW-II. She and her husband are visiting Scotland on a genealogical trip.  She somehow falls "through" a portal in a henge (think Stonehenge)....and finds herself back in the 1700s.  Of course, she meets and falls in love with a gorgeous Scottish warrior, so there's definitely romance. At different portions of the books, you are brought "back to the future" to modern times, but the most interesting stuff is the love and life they lead back during the 1700s.  There are times spent in the Paris of 1740...the battles with the British, espionage, and of course some great love scenes.

What was so wonderful about these, was that they were so meticulously researched, and I learned more than I ever thought I wanted to know about Scottish history. My mother who is a history buff, has read them all now and swears that they are amazingly authentic.

There are now five books in the series (the last one THE FIERY CROSS) came out at Christmas last year, and they're biggies (most over 700 pages), but if you're a reader, they're definitely worth your time.

All but one are in soft-back now, and are entitled:

OUTLANDER
DRAGONFLY IN AMBER
VOYAGER
DRUMS OF AUTUMN
THE FIERY CROSS

Great beach books!

View the details of this row. High Crimes Directed by Carl Franklin
A happily married, successful lawyer (Ashley Judd) is shocked to learn that her husband (Jim Caviezel) has a hidden past as a classified military operative, and is accused of committing a heinous war crime. As she prepares to defend her husband in a top-secret military court, where none of the rules she knows so well apply, she gets help from a ''wild card'' (Morgan Freeman) - a former military attorney who doesn't play by anyone's rules.

Any movie that Ashley Judd is in is of interest to me (pant, pant).  This is a well produced, well acted suspense movie.  Morgan Freeman plays his usual anti-hero role to the hilt.  Caviezel (Angel Eyes, Count of Monte Cristo) looks like he is Eric Roberts, younger, better looking brother.  Overall, I give it a "B-" on the AgentBlue Movie Rating Scale.

Uplifting, sentimental and true: Dennis Quaid plays a high school baseball teacher who makes it to the major leagues. Although it's a baseball movie, the lessons can be applied to many situations in life.  If you want a feel good movie with a just a few tears - this is it.   I think this is the first time a movie that was rated "A" by the papers was also rated "A" by me after viewing it.

"The Ritual Bath" is a very interesting look into the Jewish faith. It's the first in a series of books bye Mrs. Kellerman dealing with the family of Homocide Detective Peter Decker and the meeting of his Orthodox Jewish future wife. This story using mystery, suspense, humor and romance to provide an excellent story as well as leave you wanting to read the next book because you love the characters so much. Make sure if you read this series that you try to read them in the order they were written because with each succesive book you see this families relationships develop and their children grow. I love the Deckers...I think you will too.

View the details of this row. "One for the Money" Janet Evonovich
This book is a wonderful beginning for Janet Evonovich. She introduces hermain character Stephanie Plum. I have NEVER read a more hilarious series of books than these. "One for the Money" is her first in this series with Stephanie and her crazy family. She follows it up with "Two for the Dough", "Three to get Deadly", "Four to Score", "High Five", "Hot Six" and her latest, "Seven Up". Stephanie is a bounty hunter in New Jersey..if you can believe it and she never runs out of hilarious escapades running around the streets of New Jersey hunting criminals. If you want to laugh yourself silly...this is the thing for you!
