Is it a phase -- the change of weather pattern worldwide -- or a Man Made Destruction?

I say its caused by man

Man has systematically set out to destroy the only planet that can keep him alive. Earth is the only planet (that we know of)..which has the entire package. Everything we require as a species - to survive. And what have we done?

We've polluted the air..we've polluted the rivers..we have tipped millions of tonnes of poisons into the oceans..we have stripped sections of the earth bare of forests..conducted underground testing and ocean testing - of nuclear weapons.

The list goes on ....

I agree with Tushy.  All the hydrocarbons from automobile exhaust are contributing to the vanishing ozone layer allowing warming of the oceans and melting of the polar ice caps, not to mention stronger and more damaging hurricanes.

This is only one reason that I am a proponent of exploring space.  The time will come, perhaps in the distant future or perhaps not so distant, when our earth will become virtually unlivable, and we'll need another planet to migrate to.

The population of the earth is growing by leaps and bounds.  Only in my lifetime of 50+ years I can tell huge differences in the number of houses built and the number of cars on the road.  The available space for humans is decreasing at an astonishing rate and will continue to decrease at an ever faster pace.  As people are pushed closer and closer together, tempers will flare and I fear we'll be back in the old western days where everyone carried a gun.  This is already becoming evident on California highways where you may just get shot for cutting off another driver.  I can only imagine what the situation will be in 100 or 200 years from now.

First of all, I am only speaking for myself. But the "global warming" theory is only a theory. I remember when I was in school in the 70's that scientists stated that we were undergoing a global cooling, possibly meaning a future ice age. Now I doubt that the man-made pollution over the last 20-30 years would make that much of a difference after I have heard politicians say our enviroment is better since we have passed enviromental legislation. Now which is it? Coming ice age or global warming. A scientist from Arizona State University did a complete study of the different layers of rock at the Grand Canyon. He stated that the layers of rock show what has happened to the planet over the last 20,000 years. He found a layer that showed water present, possibly proving the great flood event in the Bible. He also saw era's of cooling temperatures and warming temperatures. He came to the conclusion that there have been and probably will be time periods which would reflect temperature variations. In other words, there is no proof of global warming or global cooling. Now I do think our pollution does cause changes in our weather. But remember the Hurricanes of 2005? They were the worst in history. Remember the hurricanes of 2006? Neither do I. But yet global warming proponents said that it would be the worst in  history and that would prove global warming. OOPs, you missed the mark on that one. As for the ozone layer, the biggest harm to the ozone layer comes from something natural, volcanoes. They erupt and expel gases which damage the delicate layer we so preciously need. Question is are these volcanoes erupting because of something we are doing? That is quite possible. But I have not personally seen the Al Gore movie, but I do have another question. Since he can not PROVE with scientific certainty that we are causing global warming, why is his book in the non-fiction section of bookstores but Bill Bennett's "Book of Virtues" in the fiction section???? Are virtues actually fiction????? Check your local bookstores.

By the way, has anyone seen the movie "Day After Tomorrow"? I loved the movie but it is sooooooooooooooooooooooo scientifically inaccurate it is laughable. If the polar ice caps did melt, how much higher would the sea level be???????? Please use scientific means to figure that one out. You will be surprised.
