Do you think paedophiles can be rehabilitated/cured? Should they be Tagged? bit of a depressing topic sorry -- but I like discussions  |

I absolutely agree. I think a paedophile is a paedophile for LIFE. It's like assuming that a convicted thief will never ever thieve again. The temptation will always be there whether they actually do or not. I also think that ALL residents living in say, a 5 mile radius of any paedophile should be informed. We have one living a few streets away. But the worst thing is that there is a nursery and Junior school two streets from where he lives. How stupid is that?! Temptation is RIGHT on his doorstep. Personally I think that any person who interferes with children should have their bits hacked off very slowly with no painkillers. |

I am going out a limb by saying this but I have a small difference of opinion. I totally agree with the FACTS that a pedophile can not be cured or rehabilitated. But I have a different idea for punishment. A small, unobtrusive chip should be embedded in his/her body. It should be deep enough so it can not be easily removed or disabled. This chip should give a constant beacon to police departments to assure that the deviant is observing the laws. All schools, preschools, daycare centers, pediatric centers, and parks should have the ability to detect these deviants and when one came too close to one of these centers, an alarm would notify the local, state and national police departments of violations of the deviant's terms of release. This should be used for other sexual predators also, such as rapist and individuals that commit criminal domestic violence. The victims should be notified of the rapist's where abouts at all times. When these deviants commited crimes against nature, they gave up their rights as human beings. Sorry, but that is how I feel. |

In Alabama I think it is unlawful for a pedophile to reside within a certain distance, a mile or two, not sure, of a school. |

I have strong feelings about this and will try to restrain myself. No, they can't be cured. What good will tagging them do? They'll find a way out of that. As far as notifying people.......they already do that. How about a tatoo on their face? Something that everyone will recognize? I don't even think casterating them will help.......ugh. Pulling my hair here! |

I dont think a paedophile will ever change or get rehabed -- once they have tasted it and like it -- they will always go back -- I really dont think they should be out in soceity again -- but if they do -- they should be under 24hr surveillance Its all the do gooders tho -- that push for them to be free -- they done their time blah blah blah -- I feel the same as SCbigdog When these deviants commited crimes against nature, they gave up their rights as human beings |

Some paedophiles have opted for the castration surgery...but guess what that did not take way the "urges"..so most likely then the attack would become even more deviant and or violent. Why not try something like the old Leper Colonys..isolate them to living among their own type.. in secured community compounds,completely out of polite society. |

I know this won't be popular...but even rapists and murderers do their time and get back out into society without being "tagged".... There are a lot of deviants out there that aren't monitored at all...(could even be a neighbor)...and unfortunately are never caught... They are supposed to be monitored now, and check in with local authorities...Unfortunately there isn't enough manpower to watch them all....How many times have you heard about a pedophile living in a neighborhood without anyone knowing? And of course, no one wants them in their backyard... We live in a society that calls alcoholism a disease, (we won't go there)..and have all sorts of programs for them, but this obvious disease is treated more like a lifestyle choice....These people are sick and need medical help...An emotionally balanced person does not do this.. I don't know what the answer is, but tagging someone kind of takes me back to the days of branding people..Maybe we should just burn them at the stake... |
