In a Douglas County Newspaper from Oregon, a man named Leonard Wilson from Riddle Oregon has brought up an interesting question. If employers can give you a drug test when they hire you, and give you a drug test when you have an accident at work, why can't the government administer a drug test to everyone on public assistance? In other words, if you collect unemployment benefits, you have to pass a drug test for each check. If you get welfare, you have to pass a drug test. If you get Social Security SSI payments, you have to pass a drug test. You get disability payments, you have to pass a drug test.
Well, what do you guys think? Think this could work? Why not extend this policy to all government workers, such as aids, senators, representatives, judges, and even Presidents? This may be a necessary evil in the near future. Tell me what you think.

Sorry, it should have been "I don't have a problem with any of it."  On Sunday's I get to be illiterate.

The only problem I see is that tax payers of course will be picking up the expense of paying for the tests..so maybe for those getting weekly checks we could save the drug tests for once every 3 months...

And they'd probably have their kid pee in the cup for them so the test wouldn't be valid.

I am all for it -- we pay enough money on other rubbish -- I recon that one is worthwhile

I agree with it in principle...but I wouldn't submit to it...I feel it's just another way of intruding on my person, and my privacy.

As a truck driver I get tested every time I apply for a job.   I think if you have to be tested to be in pro sports or to drive profesionally, you should have to be tested to be a judge ,politician ,cop, or any other position that deals with the public trust.   When I used to be a druggie, I was tried and convicted by a judge who later got caught doing cocain and heroin.   Another example was the head of the narcotics enforcement team who got caught defrauding a local pharmacy out of narcotics by using his position to get drugs.  I think either everyone, or no one should be tested.
