Do you think it is more important to defend what is moral, or what is logical? For example: Bob and Chuck are brothers. Bob is pretty well off and Chuck has been down on his luck. Now Chuck's car has broken down. Bob knows his brother is proud and has never asked for anything. Bob offers Chuck his extra vehicle, which is a 2007 Corolla. When Bob gets his car back, he notices there is a small scratch on the side of the car. Should Bob confront Chuck who is down on his luck? Or just have it fixed and say nothing? |

Bob should confront Chuck. Even if Chuck isn't financially able to repair the scratch he should know that Bob is aware of what he's done. The least Chuck could do is apologize. |

I knew you would be logical! Perhaps, it was scratched before he loaned it to Chuck, and it went unnoticed. Or maybe it happened while Chuck had it, and he wasn't aware of it. Do you think confronting Chuck, causing awkwardness with your brother (who is proud to begin with) would be the best thing to do? |

Bob should confront Chuck. Even if Chuck wasn't aware of the scratch, he should know that Bob blames him for it. That's one of the chances you take when you borrow something. |

Of course that is the chance we take, it is also the borrowers chance when loaning out the vehicle. If this story was the same for your wife, would you blame her? Even though you are not completely sure it happened while it was in her care? |

If it was my wife instead of Chuck, I wouldn't "blame" her. I would discuss it with her. |

I think Bob should confront Chuck. He could do it in a peaceful manner and just say something like, "Chuck I noticed a scratch on my car when I got it back. Please be careful with my car when I lend it to you. Treat it as if it was your own." He could even tell Chuck hey if something happened just tell me about it. |

What is more important....the love between two brothers or a tiny scratch on a piece of replaceable property..and what will it matter in 5 years? One can be fixed or replaced..one could forever damaged if not handled correctly. |
