GOLDEN SYRUP DUMPLINGS


Ingredients

 
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups plain flour
2 eggs (beaten)
4-5 tablespoons milk
 
Syrup
3 cups water
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons golden syrup
2 teaspoons lemon juice

Procedure

Set oven to 190 C (mod)
 
Rub butter into flour.  Add egg and sufficient milk to mix into a soft dough.
Place dough into a casserole dish by the spoonful.
Place syrup ingredients into a saucepan. Stir until sugar has dissolved and bring to the boil.
Pour syrup over the dumplings and bake for 20-30 minutes.
