I just did my first Arts and Craft show, Sat and Sunday. It was $25 for a 10 x 10 foot space and 10% of your total. I only made $220 in 2 days. I thought it was a bust. It seemed like I was the only one with wooden portraits of the duke, monroe, scooby, sponge bob and some leaves with animals, so I thought I was going to do great. It was hot and humid. Alot of compliments and a few orders but other than that, prestty sad. I guess its the economy and the war. I heard alot of other dealers stating that this year was the worst. I even got sunburned, and I wasnt even out in the sun, I was under my dark blue top canopy. Also, today, Sunday it started raining and after it stopped, part of the canopy collapsed due to the weight of the water and fell all over my wife. I guess that was the only bright thing that happened.Ha ha! At least she cooled off and I was trying not to laugh and look like a concerned husband, but it was too hard not too. Well, keep scrollin along, I know I will..... Take Care,   The Balding Scroller

I suppose it may have something to do with what part of the country you live in also.
Here in New England, we do start the Craft Fair season in May (I'm doing 2, one before Mother's Day and the other the last weekend of May). My May shows aren't big sellers either. The weather still can be a little cool (in fact we had more snow yesterday) and often rainy. In June though, sales usually pick up for the next 3 months, start to slow in Sept & Oct and pick up again in Nov & Dec.

I did the Mother's Day show last year for the first time. Didn't do very well but it was my first public showing of my art. I've done many since then so I'm going to give it another shot this year now that people have had a chance to get familiar with my work. Weather wasn't very good last year either.....very windy so I'm hoping for a nice day this time around. The one I'm doing at the end of the month will be new for me.

I'll report on them both after each show.

Good luck to all of you this year!!

Linster
