I am new to the craft show Idea, I have been to a couple around here but not what i am looking for. there are some that have custom crafts handmade. other mas produced nice but not handmade.
I am looking for or wondering if there are any craftshows that allow you to bring your saw and actually create your product.
Is there such a thing? I am in NY also. if that helps.
Thanks in Advance
Shane Wallner

Hi Shane,
Howdy neighbor (I'm in CT).
Yes, there are shows that not only allow but encourage you to demonstrate your craft. The difficulty with scrolling is that you will need electricity (unless you have or build a foot-powered saw) and the clean-up. In the shows I've done where there have been people demonstrating their crafts, they always seem to do very well. I always have pictures of the process with me and stress that these are not laser cut but cut by hand.

Hi Shane, there is a very good source for shows at www.craftlister.com . You can do a search in your area for shows. I have gotten into a few shows through this site and have done fairly well. As far as bringing your saw, some shows have electric, some don't. I've had my saw at some shows and it sure generates alot of interest. Not too sure if it's had an effect on sales, but it also makes time go by faster. If you do bring your saw, have a helper to waite on the customers, if you don't, you won't get much work done.

What part of NY are you in? I'm near Syracuse.

I do shows in california and do take my saw. I use an inverter with a car battery. It will do a 3 day show with no problem and it does draw alot of attention .I try to do simple items such as wood feathers and small placques. in a slow show I will work on items for my next show or to build stock.
