Where's the best place to buy the dewalt 788 scroll saw ? I bought the hitachi cw40, but I think I am returning it, don't think it will last a long time, and am not happy with the tension system on this saw.

I bought mine from Lowe's and they were instrumental in helping me get it replaced when it wore out after 2 years... just got the new one and I couldn't be happier - the other one never was right but I was too busy using it to get it replaced but after two years, one in which I had to move the arm to get it started cutting, my hand was forced! Lowe's sent the receipt when I couldn't find mine and they were very helpful in connecting me with the right folks. The Dewalt is a great machine and I've never regretted buying it, even when it wasn't working right! Also, Dewalt sent a label to send in the old one and expedited the delivery on my new one - down time was only a week total, including the time it took to get the receipt mailed from Lowe's...

I didn't notice your question until now, you probably already have your new saw. I had a problem finding one actually in a store, that I could look at, so I did what you already have heard from one of the members. I ordered mine from Grizzly too, & it's a great saw(DeWalt 788)  Only thing I added was the foot switch, & that was a great idea. Wouldn't do without it. Good cutt'n to you.  Goofytoo

I just bought the 788 from toolking.com.  The saw is refurbished and you can't find a flaw on it.  Very little vibration, escpecially since I have scheduled a burial service for the Dremel.  I don't have a prob with the blades coming loose.  I paid 359 for the 788.  Good luck.

I got my 788 for $356 at ToolKing.  You might want to check with them.  It was refurbished and arrived like new.  Fast shipping.  Saw only, no stand or light.
