I would say 'nix' to the dremel. Our Senior Centre
had one donated to us by the maufacturer and no one in the shop wanted to use
it. The reason being is that blade change is next to impossible. The left hand
side (at the bottom) is almost completly blocked off to access the tightening
blade bolt but there is a bit more room on the right hand side, but not much.
Neither side has enough room to get your hand in to be able to change
blades.
Put a few more bucks together and get yourself a
Dewalt DW788. I recently bought one just before XMAS and it's great. Lots of
room for your hands to change blades. It's almost vibration free and with the
proper blade it'll track beautifully.
Another good choice, for about half the cost of a
Dewalt, is the Makita SJ402. It's a smaller saw, only a 16" throat but is a very
good saw for the price and is almost vibration free, but not quite up to par
with the Dewalt. I used the Makita for about 5 years, wore it out, then bought
another one. I still have my second one and I like to use it thick stock and
sanding.
Hope I've been able to help out...
Happy scrolling,
Keith
