What its like to have a reading with a medium??

   Then we ask a medium to link to Spirit is has to be told that its due to the medium’s ability to slow down and alter their perception, like being in an altered state and raising their awareness to a subtle energy that allows them to perceive the messages from Spirit. This contact is conducted through mind thoughts. These thoughts are then transmitted by the communicating Spirit person to the medium. Although mediums should only relay the messages they are given, it is possible for them to ask questions and receive answers from Spirit. To me it is a live communication from Spirit.  It is also important to realise that Spirit people have a choice whether to communicate with us or not. A medium cannot in any way force a particular Spirit person to make them-selves known. This initial contact is often referred to as `making a link`. The medium has made a request, by thought, for Spirit to come forward. Just how successful the communication is depends on the experience of the medium, although other factors come into the picture. Sometimes that the sitter may not understand the process, therefore they can unintended to block the energy vibration, as l always say l cannot promise to link, l only hope l can do on the day when we make that appointment with Spirit,  Once a link is established, the Spirit person will often want to provide evidence of their identity. The Spirit speaker will transmit thoughts about themselves to the medium that will then be able to interpret these thoughts and describe the person back to the client. To be able to interpret any information, a medium has to learn how to attune to the Spirit world. While some mediums have grown up with the ability, others have to train their minds to accept information in this way. This is often done by means of meditation â€?a process of calming the body and allowing the mind to become receptive. This can, to some extent, be taught to anybody but not all who practice meditation will become mediums or â€?for that matter â€?want to.
Mediums can only give what Spirit is trying to relay, also if you want someone to appear maybe they are busy, or it’s not the right time to do so, what ever comes through there is a perfect reason to say, what give, mediums or anyone cannot demand any one to appear in communication, as the natural law of freewill, etc. 

Scientists who have studied the human brain insist we see more with our brain than with our eyes, the eyes being just a window of the soul. This might help explain how mediums can 'see' our Spirit friends. The data has simply arrived in an alternative way �the brain processes the data and 'sees' the information.

All forms of medium-ship
There are two forms of medium-ship: mental medium-ship and physical medium-ship. Mental medium-ship can be split into three categories: Clairvoyance, Clairaudience and Clairsentience. Mental medium-ship uses our psychic senses for the communication between the two worlds; whereas physical medium-ship endeavors to have those in the Spirit world communicate through physical means.

Clairvoyance
A person who is clairvoyant can see Spirit. This usually means they see the person communicating in their mind’s eye, which can be in the form of a picture or akin to watching a television in your head. It is also known as subjective clairaudience/clairvoyance is where thoughts and images are received within the mind.
Some mediums will see Spirit with their physical eye it’s known as being objective clairaudience/clairvoyance. Objective is where these thoughts and images are so strong that they are projected outside the mind and appear to the Medium to be real words spoken or a real person standing in front of them.
 It is not always people that mediums see; it can also be animals or even objects and symbols. Some objects will be given to the medium to be interpreted symbolically. This is what I call referencing: the sensing of the message that the medium can decipher. Some examples of this are walking sticks which mean support from Spirit or that the person in Spirit used to have a walking stick which they giving are now giving to you as a token of their support. If I see (clairvoyantly) a horse this means strength is being given, or that the sitter had a horse which is now in Spirit. Pink roses are given as a token of a love from the loved ones in the Spirit world. A wheelchair can also has a symbolic meaning â€?if the client does not know who had a wheelchair on the Earth plane â€?of giving the support of the Spirit world, meaning you will be pushed symbolically so as to lighten the load. This usually happens when the sitter’s personal life is stressful. A ladder is a token message that spiritually the sitter has gone up a rung, or the Spirit person communicating could have been a painter and decorator on the earth plane. It all depends of the information received and how it is decoded by the medium.

Fraudulent Mediums Act: Snu
The announcement by Government that the Fraudulent Mediums Act is to be repealed as from April 2008 is raising concern within the Spiritualist movement. Psychics and clairvoyants will become the subject of control by consumer law. If an individual supplies services for money or money's worth and the consumer deems those services to be "defective" then the consumer has a legal right to seek compensation and damages.

The consequences for Spiritualism, at the moment, we can only speculate. There are many questions unanswered by the repeal of the Fraudulent Mediums Act. The Spiritualist National Union on behalf of its churches and members has written to the Office of Fair Trading asking for guidance in relation to its activities within its churches and the Arthur Findlay College. It has invited the OFT to open a dialogue with the Union as a matter of urgency.
