Thank you so much morgan, for sharing a christmas past. In our family of three brothers and me, we would not be allowed up, until dad had made the fire... we would have a sock, with sweets a shilling, and orange etc.. we would have presents, l can remember getting a doll, no hair etc it was patterned in plastic, also the dolls hands can move.
l felt very lucky, my mum made a bonnet and dress out of an old underskirt she told me years ago.. I also remember a little sew box, also one year little sewing machine it did chain stitch, loved crayons etc... so many memories,
l tried to carry the tradition of letting my sons stay in bed until the living room was warm.. I remember when my two boys was little l would go to the local butcher, think it was the first christmas in our new home, a house... l would get a fresh capon, as we was going home as it was christmas eve it started to snow/sleet, it made it more like christmas. One funny thing from downsizing a kitchen also has its funny side... I cooked the capon, always every christmas eve l ask my dad how to do a turkey etc... He cotton on that l knew.. but that first christmas in our new home.. we had a lovely but disappointing dinner, l said there is not much meat on the bird, lucky l had some pork to go with it etc.. to make it spread abit, cos we always had a little bit of capon for boxing day, any way l thought l turn the bird, upside down to see if there is any more meat on it hahaahha, l only cooked the bird upside down, the breast was downside when l carved it up for xmas dinner.. for years l told family a funny looking bird... oh boy it melted in the mouth, silly me

blushing.
Couple days leading up to christmas, we had roundtable, coming round with a collection box and father christmas in a motorised sled, men was dress up with victorian top hat and capes... very feastive. also the salvation army stop out side our house, l ask if l could have a request, Silent Night, l put a £1 in the box.. Yes money was tight all those years..

but they are priceless, also the love of my parents to all of their children.. god bless skydancing xxx
