For some reason the 35`s don`t sell well
enough for the biggies to invest the funds to
meet your request in factory loads. The 358
Win fits the bill for your thinking, it is one of
the best short range deer and bear rounds! I
see a few boxes on the shelves now and then
but reloading is it`s only true savior. To use
a 250 or 7x57 case for a 35 wildcat would
not achieve anything the 358 Win can not
do by loading up or down! The old 9.3x57
still has some fans, the 35 whelen is one of
best 35`s, Remington tried hard to make it
a standard round but folks just do not buy
35`s for some reason, do know those that
like them, like them alot, see a few of 35 Rems
in the eastern woods in opening day! I have
an old 94 Win in 38/55 that would be my pick
for such use. Think Winchester is offering
it again. If you like the 35`s and want a short
bolt rifle, get a short action Rem, Win or
Rugar and get a one barreled for 358 win!
I still see a few whelens at the gun shows, I
think a 35/284 would be great, but don` ask
the manufacters to make your ammo!
