Well as I was setting in the barber shop my old fishing buddy walked in and said" I hear you were selling some of your rifles
and he wanted to know if I had hit my head or have some bad
illness! Since I was trapped and unable to run, I had to defend
myself! No! I`m not sick, just got to many and don`t hunt as
much as I used too, truth is I`m getting old! I`m not a young
man any more and finally faced that fact! Since I had put alot
of my money into fine rifles over the years, it was not an easy
choice to make, but one I felt that I should do it rather than
making my wife have to get robbed if I went under. I can only
say it was a hard thing to do! But a friend of mine took them to
a gun show and had a booth and he sold all I had sent, so I did
not have to see them walk off with a stranger! But I explained
that I had just got a matched set of hunting rifles that I would
not sell !A new 6.5/06 and a 338/06! Yep, thats right no cases
with belt, no magnums! I could tell he had that look on his face
as to why I had picked those, so I beat him to the punch! You
know I like the 26`s, always have! The 6.5/06 will do any thing
the 25/06 and 270 will do and most situations will do it better!
With a bullet selection from 87 to 160 grains it has down range
trajectory advantage that makes the 6.5/06 a versitile hunting
cartridge from varmits to deer! The 338/06 in the 210 grain load
is about 100 FPS slower than and 338 Win Mag with a lot less
recoil and muzzle blast and with the 180 grain Balistic Tip it can
be a fine open country deer load or a 250 grain or 275 grain is
capable stopper for big bears! He looked at me for a minute
then he said" You know my 300 Win Mag is hurting me more
now than it used to and I hate to sight it in, I just never wanted
to admit it! I see your point! Yep as we get older we can tell
wild stores to the younger fellers but we need to be honest
with our selves!
