How has the 243 WSM performed for others so far? Any malfunctions to speak of? A friend of mine has recently purchased 2 rifles, one for himself and the other for his grandson. They both shot very well with great groupings when sighting them in. Towards the end of huntin season, both barrels bulged towards the end of the barrel, one with a crack. Has anyone else had the same occurance? Both rifles don't have 100 rounds through them. When they contacted the manufacturer, they stated that "the problem was not due to mechanical failure and must therefor be user neglect". This was after the rifles had been sent back to them for inspection they relpied with thier comment. We are wondering if there are any other instances occuring like ours so if there is a problem they can get it fixed. shoot em straight 'n true |

HI What kind of rifle was it? Was it S/S or carbon blue barrel? I've got the Wincheste coyote, in S/S, and have about 200 rounds through it, and have had no sign of problems. Get back to us on that manufacture............. Taz |

My mistake, the rifles are Winchester brand in the 243 WSSM, blued barrel. After talking with my friend, he has since found out that 3 more 243 WSSM rifles of the same brand was returned to a local retail sporting goods store with the same problem. The store refunded the money to the customer and no other info is available at this time. I contacted the store to ask about the rifle, and they replied they don't carry the 243 WSSM anymore. We live in a small community where everyone knows everyone and tries to take care of each other. If the retail store didn't take the rifles back, they would have surely lost more than just the three customers who brought them back to have them checked out. Kinda nice to have sincere community care. Later Idahohunter4 |
