Afew years ago I was trying to get to Las Vegas by way of Kingman. After 9/11/01 the dam has been closed to semi tractor traffic so I needed to find a way around the dam. At the west exit there is a T/A truckstop and I pulled in there to get out the atlas and try to figure out an alternative route.
I found a feasible route and proceeded back the interstate. As I was waiting for the light to change there was a huge crash, and I thought at first the vehicle beside me or the rear of my trailer had been struck. This was not the case.
What had happened was a vehicle had tried to make the exit at a mucuch higher than prudent speed, in excess of 100 mph, followed by Arizona DPS( state Troopers) . I had startd to get out of my truck, however the sight of several troopers with guns drawn and my cowardice of being a victim of friendly fire made me stay in my vehicle until I recived some instruction from the guys with the guns.
I rolled down my window about half way until a Kingman Police officer noticed my plight and instructed me to get out of the vehicle on the right hand side and move up to the overpass.
I got out and ran up to the vehicle parked under the overpass, just in time to hear one of the occupants, an elderly lady comment, " This is like watching cops".
Lesson, if you are involved when the guys in blue are in a condition red mode, wait for instrutions,or you may receive the Bill Hickok Reward.
