Not that particular weapon, but I own a Taurus Tracker .357Mag and have had no complaints about it. Taurus makes good guns! |

Bought a 24/7, had feeding issues that required some polishing to correct.
I would not trust it as a Carry weapon so I got rid of it.
I doe like my millennium pro though, and I have a Tracker as well, great gun. |

2nd, I was reading this report: Of what age (or more appropriately, production run) was your gun? Thanks, buddy. RS |

The only Taurus I ever had was a PT940, and I really liked it. I think my next 1911 is going to be a Taurus though, lot of gun for not a lot of cash. Right now the only two hand guns I have are a Makarov and a Sig P220, like them both a lot. |

I can get the Taurus 24/7 OSS (in .45 ACP) for $497.95 (so far in searching) and if they worked out the kinks, I could always customize it a bit and still have something far less than comparable guns. I want to get a SOF-type gun to test and write about and the S&W (M&P) is the other option or perhaps the Springfield XD(M) in .40 S&W. The H&K's are too expensive and the Sig P-220 Combat TB (Nice to have a suppressor capability) would still be about ~$500 more than the Taurus. At the moment, I've been leaning towards the Sig but, dang it, I just can't work in the doubled cost. If I buy the Taurus I can get the lifetime guarantee from the dealer which I don't know amounts to what precisely. |

Taurus give you a lifetime warranty from the factory. If it ever breaks, just ship it back to them, they fix it, no charge, and ship it back to you. I had a small part break in my PT940 while I was shooting it at the range one day. I contacted Taurus, they said no problem, just send it to us. Turn around time was about two weeks, with shipping time and everything, but I got it back, no charge, and never had another problem with that pistol. |

Llamamax, Yeah, my gun shop provides a lifetime warranty on all guns ordered through their online portal. That's no problem, I was just concerned about some of the review on the OSS. However, the sales lady that I spoke to said that Taurus had made HUGE [her emphasis] strides in both quality and reliability and they'd sold dozens of the guns with no one coming back with complaints. Since this isn't your typical 'Box Box' type outfit I trust them a little more than I would, say, someone working at Wal-Mart or Gander Mountain. My only fear was having something go wrong with I needed it the most but, hell, at least I would have a fighting chance. Much better than being stuck, for example, without a gun. For home defense -- and as an excuse to buy, buy, BUY! -- I'm thinking about getting a new tactical .12 gauge. The FNH TPS looks threatening (in the eyes of any would-be intruder) but has some poor reviews, the other options under consideration are the Mossberg 500 and the Remington 870. Well, thanks for the input buddy! Take care! RS |

Lifetime warranties are exactly as good as long as the company decides to honor the warranty and whatever the company wants to honor.
About 18 years ago I bought a Trashco scope. It died. Lifetime warranty right? Oh nooooooooo. Trascho sold out. New company will not honor warranty on old scopes.

OrG, True. This particular dealer is a family-owned (Veteran) business and so their entire livelihood rests upon their reputation. Besides, I have a rule of thumb. If it lasts a year with me, it's invincible! |

I was just saying, regardless of where you buy a Taurus, you're going to get the lifetime warranty. The Mossberg is a good choice, not real expensive, but reliable as hell, I have one. The money you'll save buying a Mossberg 500, you can buy the shotgun and the Taurus, and still have money for ammo, lol. |

RS, I bought the 24/7 4 years ago, and do not remember the numbers, or production run.

Llamamax, I'm probably going to buy the Mossberg tactical too. I've never been a big fan of pistols for self-defense but shotguns are a pain to tote around. For the house, any intruder would appreciate the awesome firepower of a shotgun. I've got an old double-barrel .12 gauge now that should be retired. It's a breakdown gun too, and so I just wanted something that would be quick to bear and would be unmistakably threatening to any thug. BTW, the lifetime warranty is for any gun purchased from that dealer, not just Taurus' warranty. But they only stock reputable guns and it's good to know this. 2nd, From what I understand, the new 24/7 OSS has had its bugs worked out. Of course, the best gun guru means little to me -- I still like to have a crack at a particular gun myself. All the same, thanks for your input! It helps to narrow the choices. RS |
