In cooperation with Right Truth Blog: A NOVENA FOR AMERICA
By R.J. Godlewski © Thursday, October 16, 2008, All Rights Reserved
“The needy will never be lacking…?(Dt 15:11)
“You always have the poor with you…?(Jn 12:8)
I am deeply concerned about my nation’s future, as all Americans should be. Greed, excess, and irresponsibility have burdened us deeply during a critical period in our history. A period in which radical Islamists threaten to subterfuge our sovereignty, our culture, and our ability to live in peace and harmony with the rest of the world. Many of our fellow citizens have determined that present economy ?that is, how much we can enjoy life through spending ?far outweighs our concerns for the future. I simply do not agree.
Where would our nation be today if our founding fathers had sought only for themselves? Where would our society be today if the ‘Civil War Generation?cared less about the future implications of their struggle? Of what would be our economy had “The Greatest Generation?simply dismissed the foreign affairs of fascism? What has always made America great is that the individual had always sought to improve their nation’s future through personal action and responsibility.
During the 1960’s, things began to change. We no longer needed to worry about national security because we believed that our system was somehow faulty. During the 1970’s, we began to believe that human life was no longer sacred; it was simply perceived as a convenience. During the 1990’s, we began to toy with the very foundation of our culture ?the Christian faith ?as an obstacle towards the future instead of its road map.
Our election on November 4th will determine not just our future, but whether we remain an independent and free society. One vote, which you will provide, may ultimately decide whether our lives are worth fighting for or that the “Great American Experiment?has all been a sham and that our founding fathers were not visionaries but merely opportunists. Millions of voters will undoubtedly cast their most precious of rights based solely upon personal greed.
No vote, in the history of our nation, has ever had instantaneous benefits. It’s just not how our system was designed. We vote for the future, not for ourselves. We vote to ensure that our great-grandchildren can live in peace and prosperity, not whether we can afford a house three rooms larger than our neighbors can afford. Our investment in stocks is not so that we can reap quick profits, but that we can take ownership within the American Dream and provide working capital for the companies that employ our friends and neighbors. If we were to die today, few would shed tears. If America were to die today, the entire planet would suffer. Our country can survive without John, Mary, or Peter, but it is highly unlikely that John, Mary, and Peter would survive without the national will that grants them freedom, protection, and opportunity.
Regardless of how you vote, our nation needs you to exercise your right to choose our next leader on November 4th, 2008. This is a very important election; one that cannot be decided simply by watching debates, reviewing commercials, or judging character. Evil is upon us and it is deceitful. Good is boring and, sometimes, seemingly nowhere around. How do we choose? Which candidates for which offices best represent our country’s needs? There is not a single person on the planet ?repeat, not a single person ?that is capable of supplying that answer. That’s just part of being human. So I suggest that we turn to what has always aided our nation during its most critical periods: prayer.
I invite all of you to join me in a private novena from October 26th to November 3rd to pray that our country makes the best collective choice for our new leaders. If you are a Roman Catholic, please say a rosary during these days. If you are from another Christian denomination, please say whichever prayer you feel most comfortable with. If you are not a Christian at all, then please pray or reflect as you see best. November 4th, 2008 is not about politics. It is about America. |

El Gato, So do I. And I pray for you, too, my friend as well as everyone else out there in Gun Room Land. However, there's a lot of people out there who still don't have a clue as to what this election is all about. |

Roadsailor, I often wonder about where your path will go as a country. I sit up here in the great white north (Canada) and haveing just gone through a big election, I look south to my brothers and hope for them all. My worry is this, what will happen if Obama gets elected and becomes the worst case senario that you fear? Will this individual end up like Abraham Lincoln or like J.F.K.? I do know from others that I have spoke with , that there is a large faction in the deep south who would do anything to stop Obama from attaining that high office of commander-in-chief of your proud armed forces. I too am praying for your future and that of all freedom loving folks all over. May God be with you. Guy Lefebvre CD Armouredtrooper |

Thanks Trooper, We're getting a lot of prayers from our good neighbors up north (or, as we like to say in Detroit, down south ). Despite all the political chaos tossed around during an election year, I fear Obama simply because there are so many "evil" associations involved with the man (Reverend Wright, Ayers, ACORN, etc. etc.). Where there's smoke... As to the problems that you have alluded to, yes there are many people (including lifelong Democrats) who do not want to see this man in office. Whether this comes from being racist, I do not know. However, I suspect that nobody would want to see him become a martyr. I have far graver concerns. I anticipate a McCain victory. A close one, but a victory nevertheless. Obama has spent close to $1 Billion on his campaign. He has the backing of the entire national press. His cronies (ACORN, etc) are doing their best to manipulate the votes. Still, Obama is only a point or two ahead of the spread. That doesn't bode well for him no matter what others say. My concern is that his supporters have already promised to riot if he is not elected. We lived 13 miles away from the '67 riots, I don't want to go there again. Others have said that if we don't vote for him then we ARE racists. I would like to see Colin Powell run for office, but not Obama. He just scares me. This is why I'm callling for everyone to pray. Let God aid those who, for whatever reason, are voting without concern. The right to vote carries with it a tremendous amount of responsibility. We can't just toss that away because some guy looks and acts "articulate". RS |

Renie, I'm not sure why you call Biden a "lady", but I'm voting for McCain-Palin. |

Just wanted to update everyone since my novena starts today. I've received support from people -- of all religious persuasions -- from all over the nation and the world. Download your reflection guide at: If Obama wins a fair election, then so be it. But don't let his perverted followers elevate him through corruption or deceit. This man is just too damn suspicious to be good for our future. Let us all pray that God "inspires" those independents and so-called undecideds to cast their vote AGAINST Barack Obama! Let us pray that all of those college students have studied their history as well as his. Thanking you in advance! RS |

RS, if the puke and Biden get elected, it will have to be because he found away o blind America! My younger brother, the Obamanite, is not a stupid man, but he suppots everything Obama stands for and echoes like all of them that if you don't, then you must be a racist. It's got me running scared, dude! |
