I am looking for information on Hi-Point autos. Everything I have found says there a good buy. But, I don't know which would be better for shooting and knockdown. The 40 S&W or .45ACP.
Can anyone help.
Thanks

Howdy ya'll, I've been a gunroom member for a while but never post, til now. I own 2 of the High-Point carbines, one in 9mm, the other in .40sw. I have run maybe 2000 rounds thru the 9 and half that much thru the 40, they'll eat anything you feed them and keep shooting, they're made like a cannon so they'll take +p's too.I trained my 40 to be a 100yd shooter using a Bushnell 5x12 scope and an el cheapo ebay bipod.Pics @ following link. I put a 35mw green laser on the 9mm, it's a very consistant 25 yarder, and will reach out pretty good @50. The laser can be seen in broad daylight @25, but not at 50. Pic at following link. They are good guns for the money I have a 9mm pistol and carbine and have not had any malfunctions on either . |

| For knockdown power, you can't beat the .45. |

Hey, Doubtit, congrats on getting your .40 Hi-Point, I
think you'll get to like it as much as the 6 Hipoints I own! Don't know if
you're a reloader, but if you are, I have some super loads that are great,
accuracy wise, in both of my .40 HiPoints, let me know if you want the
"recipes".
Also, keep us posted on the accuracy you're
getting with your new .40, remember that they usually have a short
"break-in" period, before they really show their stuff! Enjoy!
Cheers,

He was really pushing Glocks, but I couldn't afford a Glock then. I bought a S&W .40 Sig. I have read many good comments about Hi-Points on various sites and I have heard some people say some not so good things about them. So, I am somewhat confused, are they really that good regarding accuracy, reliability, etc? > > ----------------------------------------------------------- > > To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. > http://groups.msn.com/THEGUNROOM/_emailsettings.msnw > > Need help? Subject: Re: Hi-Point 40 S&W or .45ACP
"Ask the man who owns one"--better yet, ask the man who
owns SIX! If they were not great, accurate firearms, I wouldn't have bought my
SECOND one! There are always people who will bad-mouth a product, when they are
trying to sell you a far more expensive product, on which they make a higher
profit. To put this in proper prespective, for what it would have cost me for
ONE Kimber handgun, I have bought 6 Hi-Points, (A .380 Comp, a 9 MM Comp, two
.40 S&W's, a .45 ACP, and a 9 MM Carbine--), the total price of ALL of them
being less than the price of one Kimber! What's that, you say, "But the Kimber
is Guaranteed for life!" Well guess what, SO ARE ALL MY INEXPENSIVE HI-POINTS! I
guess the only real way to make you a believer, is for you to plunk down a few
bucks, and buy one!
I recently posted one of the
targets I had fired with one of my Hi-Point .40 S&W's, on another
Forum, fired at 25 yards on a Midway 4" sized 50' bullseye, (with my own
handloads and cast bullets), I'd post it here, but any time I've tried to add an
attachment, It gets spit out as being "too large a file". You can see the target
on the "Gunboards.com/Forums > "Gunboards Dot Com Discussion Boards
> thread entitled "Tuco's First Shot Reviews" > "Hi Point
Firearms".
I rest my case!
Cheers,

Well, I shot the 40 Hi-point.. Picture is worth a thousand words. 25yards, 1 second between shots. I am going to start re-loading, I love to shoot the 40 but at 19 cents bullet, it could be expensive. |

Oh, I forgot. Does anyone have a good information on a shoulder holster that the Hi-Point 40 S&W would fit? |

Just a up-date. I have fired over 500 rounds with no jams. It continues to be accurate. Although a little heavy and more recoil that an 45 S&W it shoots nices and cost a lot less. |

Just a note: "GUN TEST" magazine rated the 9mm carbine higher than the Ruger, And at less than half the price. Sincerely Wad |

The .45 is better for knockdown power. The difference is akin to driving a nail with a 16 ounce hammer v. driving the same nail with a 20 ounce hammer. The 20 ounce will drive it faster.
A lot of people use the .40 cal these days, but it has never impressed me that much.

As much as I love my .45s, the ballistics of the .40 are superior, and it kicks a little less too boot. |
