Just my opinion, but I bought my grand sons a bolt action 22any brand [decent tho] to insure they know the basics, and make the first shot count because there may not be another. I found that a semi auto gives a false notion .[If I don't hit it this time I can hit it with the next shot] and the consecutive shots are almost sprayed. Start 'em right the first time ,Its too hard to unlearn 'em. Gordo |

Thanks Gordo I never looked at it that way. Make the first shot count. |

| I agree whole-heartedly Gordo. My favorite choices for my Boy Scout range sessions are the Winchester M/67 & M/68. Not only are they single shot but you also must hand cock the hammer for each shot. Toomuch |

Hi lewis, You can't go wrong with a Ruger 10/22 as far as I can see. I own one and love it! I put on a butler creek barrel, Choate dragonov style stalk, Harris bipod and a good quality 3x9x40 scope for those pesky gophers. The rifle will give me sub minute of angle at 60 yards in a pinch with good quality ammo. I also taught both my boys on this rifle. have fun shooting it mate. armouredtrooper

I agree with the sentiment behind your thoughts grumpy
I to keep an old jc penny double hammer 12 close and ready -- Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. Jaye
