I prefer the Remington model 700.  You can get a SPS model very reasonable and it has a mat finish and synthetic stock, or you can move up from there XCR, BDL, etc.  Don't let a stiff trigger discourage you on one of these out of the box, it can be adjusted on these rifles, but if you are not familar with how do do this, seek the help of a gunsmith.

would you be able to tell me if they make this left handed, or what would be a good deer hunting rifle for open swamp made is a left handed bolt. Thanks

I like the savage line of rifles I heve a 110 heavy barel in 308 that is real accurate and a 270 lite barel that is real nice. The new ones have adjustable triger groups, and I think I saw some left hand bolts in some of the modles they oferd. Savage makes a real fine rifle.

I never had any problems with feeding of any ammo. and I have run about 1500 rounds through it. It will hold a 1/4 in group at 100 yrds. its toped with a leapold vari-x 11  3-9 and is a 308 heavy barel. it has a nice adj. bipod on it ( cant remember what brand right now, havent shot it in a while.)  I do belong to a nice club up here but here is michigan, and it is a little cold so my shooting has been keept to shot gun, light barel, pistol, and black powder wepons for the last couple of months, when I could get out.I am sure you will be happy with your purchase i heard that the mod 70s had a problem with the bolts a few years ago but that was with the old ones and i know that has been fixed. The mod 70s have been a good rifle for a very long time and you should be vey pleased.;-)  happy shooting

The Weatherby Vanguard is probably your best choice. Any rifle that consistantly groups three shots into a half inch at a hundred yards is a good buy. Mine does it regularly and cost less than $500.
