My current scope bit the dust and I need to purchase a new one. Any good/bad comments on your experiences? I don't want to break the bank but I do want something that will hold zero....

I'm using a Simmons "22 Mag" 3-9 power on my Marlin 980V Squirrel gun (22LR) and the same in a fixed 4x on a 30/30. They run $40 @ Midway. $50 over the counter.

I've got a Tasco 3-9x32 on my Mossberg Plinkster, had it since Christmas, no problems holding a zero so far.  I think I paid $30 for it at WSFA.com.

I just ordered a Nikko Stirling 3-9x42 Gold Crown with a free sling from CDNN Investments for $39.99.  I orderd a set of Accushot rings for grooved 22 receiver for 6.99 from them also.  The are at www.cdnninvestments.com   I have not received it yet (scheduled for delivery today).  I have a BSA 3-9x40 deerhunter on a 10/22 and a Simmons 6-18x50 on a 17 HMR and all have held up well.  You can find good deals on the the BSA and Simmons at www.natchezss.com   The Nikko is supposed to be Japanese optics, and not Chinese junk, we'll see.  I use Burris on all my heavy caliber hunting rifles, but I just don't want to pay more for a scope than the 22 rifle cost.  I am planning on putting the Nikko on a new Winchester Wildcat 22 bolt action, that I suspect my wife is getting me for my birthday in a couple of weeks.  If she did not, I'll just have to get it myself LOL.

The Nikko came in and it had Made in China on the bottom of it.  Oh well I guess all cheap scopes are now made there.  It came with some flip open scope caps with yellow lens and a neoprene and nylon sling with swivels, so I guess it was a good deal for $39.99.  The scope seems to be clear once I adjusted the focus ring out a ways.  If it will hold up, it should be fine for a 22.  The Accushot rings look beefy for 22 rings with two allen head screws on each side of the scope and two allen head screws to attach to the grooved receiver on each ring.  They were only $6.99 and of course Made in China.
