Hey folks, is there any real comparison studies done between the .270 and the .280? I have searched quite a bit and so far all I have found is opinion and conjecture and things like you can compare this or that because of the difference in caliber. Well duh that's what comparison studies do. But so far I haven't been able to find any good ones. Hope you all can help me out here. Thanks |

The only thing that I can find out is from the speer manual which states
that the .280 has a better bullet selection and that it is closer to the
Magnum rounds with bullet velocities and energy.

The 280 is just a 30-06 necked down to 7mm. It was once called the 7mm Express Rem. It offers the very good BC of the 7mm bullets with a little more oumph behind the bullet than some of the other 7mm rounds. The 7mm section of the reloading manuals are getting to be about as thick as the 30 caliber section. You 270 is the same thing jsut a tad smaller in size. |
