I recently bought a remington 798 in 3oo win mag. I must say I am impressed with it. I mounted a 3x9 leupold scope on it and I can easily shoot 1 inch groups. At first the mauser action seemed a little stiff but after shooting almost 200 rounds through it ..it is cycling just like a mauser action should. The laminated stock is impressive. I would highly recommend the 798. The 798 is about the same price as a model 700 but i find it to be a much more interesting piece.

Congrats on the rifle. The Mauser style action is my favorite out of all actions. I have a bunch of various rifles on that action. FN's are my favorites.

i agree joni....just today i took a friends husqvarna 7mm out for a pre purchase test fire....i am definatley buying it....then i will have it...my 798....and my old original k98....gettin a collection of my own started...lol

One of my favorites is an older Sako built back when they used FN actions. I also have some FN's which are nice but they don't have the superb trigger the Sako has.
