An interesting science fiction story about life in the USA post-acopolypse.  Humankind has fallen victim to it's most undesireable and feared fate.  Chemicals and nuclear warfare have come and gone, leaving human and non-human races almost nonexistant along with poisoned oceans, lakes and disfigured or mutated people.

 

The story (and the future of the world) lies with just a few characters:  

Hawk, a child born to a now-deceased master magician of sorts, who is unaware of his destiny to lead his small group of young survivors to safety and a future. 

 

Logan & Angel, the last remaining Knights of the Word, sworn to fight and destroy all demons (especially the master demon) who enslave, imprison and kill the remaining human race or use them for experiments to mutate and convert to evil.  They are also given the task of finding Hawk and the elfen race to secure their safety so that those chosen can re-establish and populate the world (THAT story is in the next book!).

 

The Elfen community are rarely spoken of in this book but you are given just enough info to want to read the next book to see how and what they have to do to ensure the world isn't demonized!

 

The master demon - his own task is simple...destroy the remaining human race and repopulate the world with evil and rule it.
