Today's Scripture
Isaiah 53:4-5
Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; It was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God,a punishment for his own sins!
But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins.He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.
How could an Old Testament person understand the idea of Christ dying for our sins--actually bearing the punishment that we deserved? The sacrifices of the Old Testament suggested this idea, but it is one thing to kill a lamb, and something quite different to think of God's Chosen Servant as the Lamb. But God was pulling back the curtain of time to let the people of Isaiah's day look ahead to the suffering of the future Messiah & the resulting forgiveness made available to all people through Him.
It will be available until Monday April 9th.
Heavenly Father, we are SO thankful for the gift we have been given in Jesus Christ. Lord, help us to remember always Your sacrifice and to tell others around us of this free gift available to them all through the precious Blood of Christ. In Jesus' Holy Name, Amen..
God bless!
