Angie said: I talked with Christine this afternoon and got an update on Katie's condition. Katie had her first surgery yesterday. The doctors worked on cleaning her wounds and assessing the best course of action for future surgeries. This afternoon, the surgeons are going to place three screws in Katie's pelvic complex. There are four fractures in the portion that remains which is so important to hold everything else together. Tomorrow, Katie will have a colostomy. Each surgery also involves the continuous cleaning of her wounds to keep her from getting an infection. The surgeries will continue for the next two months when they hope to have her able to return to Bozeman for further reconstruction and rehabilitation.
Katie's family worked on setting up her website over the past couple of days so family, friends and concerned prayer warriors can get updates on her condition and send her words of encouragement. Please visit www.caringbridge.org\visit\katieholland and let her know you are still pulling for her.
Most importantly, please continue to pray that Katie will continue to be infection-free, that God will guide the very talented surgeons and health professionals that are working hard to give Katie her life back, and for strength for Katie and her family as they struggle to understand and cope with their loss and the challenges of Katie's long recovery and rehabilitation.
Christine was so touched when I shared with her the response of all of you when we put out the call for prayer. She has asked me to express her appreciation to you, not that I can put those feelings into words.
Thank you for your continued committment to this family. May God be glorified by the miracle of her survival and the restoration of her life. I am convinced that He has great plans for this young girl and her family.
Much Love, Angi
