Kendi is my Congo African Grey, and he never ceases to amaze me, I love this little guy, he is my boy! hehe. I've been working on teaching him new words and sounds as well as association with them and I think things will work out with time! I was in the computer room with Alex (bf) sitting in our big comfy chair with the birdies, Kendi and Sammie in our laps. Well, one of the cats walks in, and I'm saying "Here kitty kitty kitty!" and then showing Kendi the kitty, and telling him what Tracey is, and what he says, and naturally every time you meow at Tracey, he meows back, LOL. Well, last night I was downstairs watching TV and all I hear upstairs is Kendi meowing!! EXACTLY like Tracey. LOL He's so adorable. Makes me wonder now if Tracey was in the room at the time he started meowing. hmm.

Well today another adorable little thing. I was playing peek-a-boo with him from behind the door to the room, b/c they always lean way off the cage to see where I'm going, and all I hear on my lunch break toda.....peeek a booooo! over and over. It brought little tears to my eyes, lol. I would presume it's like seeing your child's first steps. I just love him to bits! LOL

OMG!!! Now he's sitting on top of Sammie's cage, and Sammie was playing with Kendi's toes from inside the cage (they're always very gentle with each other, but I always watch just in case), well Kendi doesn't like having his toes touched for too long and he got mad, screeched at Sammie and said " Don't bite!" LOL  He's tooooo cute. I'm thinking one day I might get another grey, they have definitely struck my heart strings!

Just wanted to share .... CL

I think Peek-a-boo was one of Twiggy's first words/games...now being a big bad 5 yr. old she has shortened it to a simple *Peeeeeka*
when she wants to play.   I'll be curious to hear if Kendi eventually shortens his Peek-a-boo, too.  di

Grays rule!  They're incredibly wise and intelligent.  And fun!

I'm a terrible worry-wart.  I couldn't allow a cat around one of my grays, and letting them nibble on each other's toes would be a concern, too.  I hope you don't regret these things, CLL.

Gizmo my senegal plays peek aboo too. I used to have his cage beside my chair and he would walk on the botttom of his cage and pop up and look at me and when i saw him i would say peek a boo. then he started to do it on his own--one day he popped up and looked at me and I didnt see him so he said Hey you-- peek a boo. lol. He also meows too :)

Thanks for sharing your story. Everyone who lives with birds is laughing and nodding in agreement.

Even after twenty-seven years, The Princess never fails to surprise and delight me in some way.

The favorite cuddle activity is having her toes rubbed. She will lower her eyes and hold out her foot, reminiscent of a duchess presenting her hand for kissing. After a few minutes of tootsie massage, she bends her head so that the unoccupied fingers can get busy with a good head scritch. She practically goes boneless with relaxation and so do I!

Hope everyone is well on what is for everyone a sad day.

Well di, Kendi is getting lazy with his peek-a-boos! lol...now he just says "eeeeekaooooo" sometimes! He seems to mix words in before a-boo sometimes as well, quite silly.  Yesterday I took him downstairs for dinner so he could share some soup with me, and on the way down the stairs we saw Tracey and Misty (two of our cats). I pointed out the kitties to him and asked "What does the kitty say Kendi?" and of course he replied "Meoow" lol. Only the second time I asked him he stared at me a second, then did the wolf whistle! lmao. They are a curious bunch.

i dont think she said that the cat and bird were nibbling, she meant the 2 birds. right?

we had a cat up until a month ago and he was terrified of Max.  wouldn't go near him.  When we first brought Max home and he was on my lap, the cat put his paws up to sniff and max screamed, sent that cat running so fast!  never went near him again!  yet, put that cat outside and he would catch a bird within hours........wierd.  he knew what was off limits.  He's at a friends now, we can't have 'un-caged' pets in this place.....she (landlord) thinks all birds are caged.....lol.
