hi all I have a small portable playstand in my bedroom beside my bed and today Tyco was sitting on it. I also have a very small dog about 3lbs named TC (too cute) any way today Tc and Tyco where have a great time playing fetch with each other TC has a little rubber ball with a bell in it and he would bring it over to Tyco and drop it on the table in front of Tyco then Tyco would pick it up and throw it and TC would go get it and bring it back again this went on for almost an hour then TC was to tired to play anymore so he got up on the bed and layed down right beside the table that Tyco was sitting on Tyco was trying everything to get TC attention turning his head right around and stomping back and forth on the play stand it was so funny I think Tyco has actually bonded with my little dog mabie because they are about the same size.I wish I had a camera but my phone broke about a week ago so I can't take anymore pics until I get another one the phone I'm useing right now doesn't have a camera in it

Pat, that is great Tyco and TC like each other so much.  Be careful though, a dog's mouth has germs in the saliva that can be very harmful to birds.  Kathy

That does sound like so much fun for both of them.... and there very well could be a strong bond formed between them... I can just see it as my son had a quaker that loved the little pammi they had....

We sure don't want to be a part pooper but yes, be careful about cats, dogs and birds... a lethal combination...

We would be doing you and all bird lovers a disservice if we failed to point out the harm that could be done with a bite or a scratch...

Hi everyone I know full welll How dangerous it can be but I watch close and I would never let Tyco put TC's ball in her mouth or anything like that but its so cute. I washed TC's ball at least 4 times while they were playing also I was even afraid of the saliva getting on Tyco's feet and then on something she ate. I sprayed her feet down with a water sprayer when she was done playing. When I first got Tyco she would try a bite thedogs every chance she got. My dogs would never hurt the birds they like them and the didn't understand when Tyco would see them under her cage and climb down to give them a nip. I guess she's finally releized that these dogs won't hurt her and I 'm so glad she actually bonding with TC. Tyco's last owner had a very large Doberman pincher I don't blame her for bein afraid of dogs. My dogs are just little cuddle muffins. I have a Shiht-Zu and a Papplion I also have a Border Collie x American Collie but he has very long hair and likes to be outside where its not to hot the heat from inside seems to get to him more since he's gotten older he's 12 yrs old which is very old for a Collie he's so beautiful looks like a black & white Lassie

When I was growing up we had a black and white Lassie (her name was Lady) who when she passed away was about eighteen years old and could barley get around... I remember her giving us rides on her back...

All of this to say that when she died my mum was heartbroken, inconsolable and being about six I didn't understand...
looking back now, to think about her having had Lady all those years, from a puppy, I know now how much she had to have hurt... and she was the black and white Lassie... who I had never heard of till I got here stateside....<smile>

That is wonderful you are being so careful with Tyco, but still letting them play together.  I misunderstood (sorry!), and thought Tyco was using her beak rather than her feet to throw the ball.  My cockatiels never use their feet to pick up toys, so I forget about other birds using their feet like that.  If you could get them on video, I think people would love watching them play.   Kathy

How funny. It does look like it is beating. Some people are just so talented with these siggies.
Very cute.

It's great when all your animals get along.  I don't have very much interaction between my birds and the dogs.  The birds mainly like to throw food down to the dogs.  The dogs (min. daushunds) sit in front of the cages and wait till the birds get their fill, and then throw leftovers to them.  Also, hubby often has the Timneh on the couch with him, since Peppy doesn't have a mate, like my other birds.  One of our doxies, Dusty, was laying on the couch and Peppy ran over and tried to preen his tail, which he didn't like.  Now, when Peppy is on the couch with hubby, Dusty goes elsewhere.  Sissy.
