I was out of the room for a few minutes, with Cooper out of his cage (oops, that can be a huge mistake).  Walked back in and he was scrunched down on the back of the couch, in front of the window with the blinds shut, looking like he was waiting for a movie to start. I opened the blinds and he's been just quietly watching for a long time.  For awhile, every time a car went by, he said "Ya like that?"  Cracks me up.

I think you are the first person who has mentioned having to clean poop off the couch. I know it must happen a lot but no one says it.

I don't allow my birds to perch on any of my furniture. They have their own, they can use it. If they bit a hole in this leather stuff I would have a stroke.
Call me picky. I know I am.

Very funny comments from Cooper. Maybe he's choosing your next car.

That was so cute!  I remember his pic you posted of him looking out of the window.  Or at least I think it was him. :)

Changing subject.  Annie you mentioned leather sofa.  Got a question.  Can you throw a cover on that kind of couch without it sliding off.  I need to go look for furniture and thought if I got leather I wouldn't have to worry about any factory sprays they put on upholstery.  But Bubba is lose all the time in the livingroom so there is the possiblity of him landing on a couch.  Boy I might be living with old furniture forever with him.   Okay sorry for changing subject:(

The thought of worrying about any kind of protectants they put on upholstery just bugs me.  Anyone bought new furniture and birds were in that room?

I let mine in the living room with me and once or twice they have landed on an uncovered piece of furniture, usually at picture taking time, but I use flannel sheets to cover the chairs and couch/loveseat. Mine also is leather. Seldom is my furniture uncovered when they are playing with me in the living area and even then I don't allow them on any leather pieces as one bite and they could have a hole started...

I don't think anything would stay on mine as a cover. I nap on the sofa and my lightweight cover slips off unless I wrap it around my feet then lie on one edge of it.

Some leathers are not as slippery as my new sofa. My old one wasn't. It wasn't the shiny leather. It was soft looking and had a slight sheen but not shiny.
My dogs lived on it for 16 years with absolutely no damage. One scratch caused by my sandal buckle years ago. Amy has it now and her dogs sleep on it in their computer room. They may damage it because she isn't as careful about toenail trims as I am and her dogs are much much heavier than mine. Our max dog weight was 22 lbs, hers was Chase at over 100 lbs.

Read up on leather tanning processes. Some put off more fumes than others. I can still smell the "new leather" scent of ours.

Holes and stuff on the furniture and walls from the birds add character!  I leave some evidence around - makes for some funny stories!  And reminds folks that things in my home don't have to be perfect!
