Hi, I really enjoy reading and learning from all of u too lovers. I'm owned by a citron too, african grey, peachfront conure and parrotletts. I recently purchased a goffin. I had asked a bird store to locate a goffin for me. The store bought 2 goffins. I was told weaning 2 is easier then just 1. One is a male and the other a female which is alot smaller then the male. I'm wondering is one sex better then the other. Both birds are sweet and healthy. I'm up for any helpful hints and info on goffins. I call them both my babies. They are approx. 4 months and adorable. I just want to learn as much as I can before bringing my baby home....HELP!
Congrats! You'll love your goffins! I have a female, Susie Q, and she is my baby. The great thing about them is they are so soft and cuddley but at the same time they can amuse themselves in their cage if they have to without complaining. The other day Susie was laying on her back playing with a ball I purchased at the bird fair and having a great ol' time. She loves things with bells and loves to shred paper. I bought a hanging receipt tape holder at a show and she loves pulling the paper down and making a big mess with it! I would love another goffin but it would never be like my Susie so I'll just stick with one and spoil her rotten!
Thank you, Bunny 844. I didnt get much of a response for my first message but it was exciting getting your response. I'm still wondering is there a major difference between a male and a female goffin. How about after maturity? Which i know takes several years. If anyone has any good or bad experiences with their goffin please share. I have read alot; but there is nothing like hearing it from someone that is owned by a goffin.
Hi, I have two Goffins. You can see them both in ( Tony's Children ). I do not know how old my female is but I have had her for 20 years, and my other one is only one year old and I don't know if it's a boy or a girl. They can be pretty loud in the morning and evening. My oldest has been full flighted and free in the house for 19 years. She is potty trained to go on newspapers. I think I will keep the baby's wings clipped. They do not talk, but we can understand what they want. They like to chew. The are acrobatic. They can be jealous of you and your partner or of other birds. They are so soft. They are not boring. They are escape artists. You will love them.
