Does anyone out there know where I might be able to buy a plastic replacement bottom for my bird's sleep cage? It's a Hoei, and it measures 24X13 1/2X13 1/2. Thanks! Robyn and Peekaboo the CAG |

You might try ebay or if you have the the name and model you could try contacting the company, but in my opinion you'd probably have better luck with ebay. Nan |

Well, I tried E-bay, but so far, people are only selling whole cages. And, I can't find a web-site for just Hoei cages. Oh well...I'll just keep looking and hope the duct tape holds. lol |

Call this company and ask if they can get replacement parts for Hoei. They sell that brand. I read at another site that Hoei is no longer importing cages because others are selling for less money. If you can't get the replacement do as I have had to do for trays that the birds chewed up (traveling cages) and buy a piece of the heavy plexi-glass (Home Depot may even cut it to size ) To prevent it from slipping through the back and sliding out my son attached a lip using his fish tank sealant which worked perfectly since I actually didn’t need the other three sides. Just something to stop it going back and to hold the newspaper in place. |

You used to be able to buy what was called seed guards that a cage sits in. The sides came up about 4 inches and would replace the bottom unless you carry the cage around. You would have to lift the cage off to replace paper. I've looked around and can't see the one I had years ago. A sheet metal shop or a window company can make you one of acrylic but the window co will be expensive. The metal would likely be galvanized and if your bird is a chewer/licker it would be dangerous. I have two cages with galvanized bottoms but the birds never went near the floor. Murphy grey has lived in the same one for 15 years. If you decide to do this ask the shop to hem the edges. That rolls the top edges over and pinches them so there will be no sharp upper edges. They can cut to fit by seeing your cage or if you trust yourself, bring them the dimensions. Much better to let them do it so if there is a mistake it's their problem. Annie |
