My alex used to get off her cage and sneak behind the curtain on the window. If I did not look for her within a few minutes, she would giggle to make me look for her. Well she chewed about 6 inches of the window track including the rope that made the window go up and down. It was a 100 yr old house, old wood windows. Needless to say when I discovered she had been working on the woodwork after several tricks like this, I moved her cage a foot away from the window, so she could not reach the curtin.
Her other trick, was when I let her wings grow out to see how she would be if allowed to fly around the room. Well she loved sitting up on top of the ceiling fan, which was not running. But would come down when called. Well one day something fell down from the fan and it was the nut for the bolts holding the blade. I checked and she had removed 2 of 3 nuts from each blade in her hangouts on the fan. She has taken apart the playground on top of her cage so many times I have lost count.
I have kept her wings clipped since then. Couldn't trust her to have free flight around the house. The new house, well it is 100 yrs old too, but new to us, the birds have their own room to be on play gyms and cages. Take care.
