I have a little wild finch ( he is just a brown little thing nothing pretty but his eyes) that I hand raised as he feel or was pushed out of  his cage. I alos had a little budgie that had a broken leg that I was hand raising and I but the two of them together.
I was wondering how long does a little finch life? Mouse was at the vet with Scotter ( the budgie) and she was surprised he lived being hand fed and said he could never be set free as he would die asp outside    chemoc at

I don't know a thing about them but we have a couple of wildlife rehabbers who are members. Keep an eye on this post and I bet they can help you when they come back.

Your little finch is probably a House Finch.  I also handraised four of them this year.  We were removing a dead cedar from our yard in May and didn't realize there was a nest in it.  I ended up with four featherless babies to raise with an eye-dropper.  They've all done well.

I would be cautious about having him in with a hook-billed bird like a budgie, however.  The budgie can kill a little finch easily and -- I was told -- probably will at the first food dispute.  Also, your finch requires a much different diet than a budgie.  Your finch will do best on wild finch seed which contains niger, boiled egg mashed up (they require a lot of protein to replace the bugs they normally eat in the wild), and fruit.  Mine love raspberries.  I also add vitamins to their water.

thanks for the info. Our little Mouse and the one budgie have been together since they where babies and now I have 2 other budgies in with him and bought a small budgie at the pet store and they all get along great, Little mouse gets stressed if he is not with the budgies.
The finches get thier food at the bottom of the cage but does not like as much as budgie food so I just mix it together and add some grit also at the bottom which they enjoy
They get shredded cabbage or veggies all the time and even noodles which they play with .
I was just wondering how long they do live , as Mouse will be 2 years old this summer  chemo
