Wow, Annie...that had to be some strong wind to take out that tree.  If'n it had just gone a little more to the side it mighta missed the carport but flatten the car completely.  Did you get any insurance back on that?  What kind of car is that under the tree....looks to be in the 60's?

Tex is at the vet today.  He has such an aweful odor from his mouth we decided to have his teeth cleaned...and they'll check for any bad ones.  He's also gonna get a bath, ears cleaned and nail trim and his rabies shot.  Funny....when Bob called for a quote for that bath it was so low I thought for sure they must be nuts for doing it.  Come to find out when Bob took him in...the gal who answered the phone, thought it was his Mom's dog...a Bichon.  I wonder what kinda bill he'll be presented with when he goes to pick him up.  All the vets I worked for charged big bucks for a doggie his size.  Bob's been missing the boy all day today...his best buddy.  I've been shampooing all the rugs and doggie bedding so everything will be fresh when he comes home this afternoon.  I bet he won't lay on any of them that are clean..he'll find a spot on the bare floor before he lays on something clean smelling.

I love that Twiggy girl...it looks to me as if she's got the down part all right...but the jacket part needs some work.  Maybe we could get Nanners or Lo to quilt her a nice one.  She has such a look on her face...like she's dreaming about that sunshine she wants to go see.  Maybe it's the peanut butter, peanut butter crackers she's thinking about.

Hubby is restoring a 60 model Olds convertible and the one outdoors is his parts car. He will remove floor pans etc, and weld them onto the convertible where it has rusted out. Once he's used all the parts he needs he will sell the usable leftovers to other restorers.

This is the convertible. Believe it or not, he drove it home when he bought it.
I am taking a series of pics from the day he bought it til it is finished.
Annie
He's stripping every piece of wiring and replacing it right now.
Been doing that for weeks.
No Feathers, he doesn't drive it sitting on the little footstool.
That's his knee saver chair.

I used to live close to a guy that did the same thing, he'd buy old cars and restore them...
Usually he had a hard time parting with many of them and as his hobby grew and grew he eventually became a country boy! needed the wide open spaces to put up more storage space....
I believe he could have qualified for a used car lot licence......Too2

Well shoot.....my reply didn't post.   Your hubby is doing something Bob has dream't of doing..restoring and old car.  He was here admiring your hubby's work.  He'd love to see it in the condition it was when you first got it.  What's wrong with driving while sitting on a footstool?

We just got Tex home.  He was a VERY good boy at the vets.  Didn't flinch for his vaccination or nutt'n.  He did exactly as he was told..didn't fight his bath either.  Poor guy...found out what was causing such bad breath.  He had three lumps in his mouth they removed.  Not large enough to stitch up...but enough to cause trouble.  We'll have to keep an eye for that sort of thing now.  His teeth are nice and shiney and he smells good.  He weighed in at 128 lbs.   The doc was gonna guess at 150...but we figure he was at least that much when we got him.  He's trimmed down so much that he looks like a different boy.  They were just amazed at how gentle and well behaved he is.  He is still protective of us and our car and home though.  The gal came out and was gonna help him get in the van...but he jumped right in.  Then he did his job by barking at her to make sure she didn't come with us I guess.  We all had to laugh cause that musta wore him plumb out with the anesthesia still affecting him....he laid down and went to sleep.  Funny....we got home and I brought him in while Bob parked the van in the garage.  Tex was not going to move from that door till papa came in and sat down.  He's been asleep since then.

Tex....not papa.

Feathers, the top pic is right after he drove it home. It's in relatively good shape, no rust thru but lots of surface rust. The seats are in good shape. It was stored covered in the owner's carport for 16 years.

You ought to see how many little boxes and ziplocs he has out there. Shelves full, all labeled so he knows what parts go where when he puts it back together.

He has done about 6 or 8 and after they are done he drives them for a year or so and then sells them. I drove several of them as my car for a long time.

The newest he has ever restored is a 1972. He gets old low production cars so they are valuable at the start. One car was one of only 170 built. That was a dream car. It was mine for a couple of years. A lady backed into me downtown once, right after it was restored.

I was wondering about the car..it's a little dark in the pic.  Bob was commenting on how nice it is coming along.  Would like to see it finished too.  He loves that kind of stuff but can't afford to participate..just drool on the sidelines.  He wishes now he had the cars he'd had as a kid....be worth a fortune.  I bet you woulda like to kick that woman in the teeth....the one who backed into you.  Did you tell her where the bear poops in the buckwheat?

She was a teller at my bank. Came out of a shop, waved at me, got in the car and backed into me. She was so embarrassed. We didn't even file a claim cause hubby fixes that kind of stuff.
Here's the same pic, lightened so maybe the car shows better.
I'll have to delete these soon. My passport is starting to groan.

I love those old cars.... Did it do much damage when the teller backed into you? I've had some whoppers and thank goodness always where it didn't involve another car but OBJECTS that shouldn't have been there in the first place

Annie I have lots of pic room as I bought space.. remember? I've saved them and can repost when you're ready for them... Too2

Wow.....MUCH better...you even have whitewall tires!  Do ya have matching hubs all around?  Sometimes those things are hard to come by......but up here....we see em on the side of the road.  Should maybe go into the hubcap business.

It's nice when you know the person who backs into ya like that...sure makes it much easier to deal with than one of them hit and run folks.

Yep, all around. They will have to be replaced though. Sat in one place for 16 years.
She couldn't run. She was sitting in a parking place and I was just a tiny bit beyond her waiting for a traffic light, so she hit the rear fender. I had her blocked in.
Another time I was driving past another friend's house and her grandson came careening out of the driveway without looking and ran into the side of another of the restored cars. This was partly my fault because they had a huge shrub blocking our views of one another. He started crying and begged me not to call the police. I did, anyway, from inside their house. I didn't file a formal report and hubby repaired that one too. That guy was in his 20s and he knew he didn't look before backing out. I bet he had other points against him.

I didn't answer that question right. The hubcaps are in good shape, the tires are all old and messy. I think hubby said the tape deck (what was the big music cassette thing before tapes?) worked too til he pulled the dash apart.

Too bad about the tires....but I bet you'll find some more white walls.  Bob even found some whitewalls with the wide white band.  Up here there seems to be no shortage of old stuff like that....shoot....I think I'm getting that way too....up here too long.  8 track....I think that's what it was called....wow..he had one and here I just threw away a bunch of 8 tracks I found in the house.  Just as well since his doesn't work anymore.
