I am just starting another question from the question board.  I just wanted to see what you think on this subject and if any of you will get into this discussion.

Here is the question:

How old do you think Jesus was when the wise men came to visit them?  How old do you think Jesus was when Joseph took him into Egypt?

Please base your answers on Scripture.

Joie good question. I will try to answer this if I can. I say he was 2 years old on both. Or maybe he could have been younger. The reason I say this and I will show my scripture for it. I do know that Jesus was not in a manager as many think when the wise men came to him and this is why.***********************************************

Math. 2:11***** And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. ( See they came into a house, not a stable.

Ok now for more scripture ********
2:14
When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
2:15
And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
2:16
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.

So now you have my answer.

Hi Larry,   Thanks for answeing my question.  And that is the correct answer.  See, the Scripture has all the right answers.

So, now that you are the first one to give us the right answer, it is your turn to give us a question.  Make it a hard one. (HA)

I know many people just assume that Jesus was still that little 'babe' or infant in that stable for they go by church plays instead of studying the word. and thus they think those wise men just miraculously appeared there that night Jesus was born.

But the Word makes it positively clear that Jesus was right at two years old by the time the Wise men came to visit him.

As you pointed out,  the Word said they saw a young child;  not a babe as did the shepherds.

It also showed that Joseph took a young child to Egpty;  not an infant, or in the Word of the Scripture, a babe.

It proved it by saying Herod killed boys from two years old and under ACCORDING TO THE TIME HE DILIGENTLY INQUIRED OF THE WISE MEN.

Now what did he inquire of the Wise men?  The time the angel came and told them of the birth of this child.

Who came from the East to see Jesus? this was a question that I asked my self but no one responded so I will answer it for u.
Matthew 2
2:1
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

Now for your question joie******  How many shepherds where there who came to see Jesus? This one I can not find an answer to. I think that what has happened is that we went by tradition on the shepherds and the wise men. Something that was added but is not bibical. I have always been taught that there were three wise men and three shepherds but there is no scripture for this. As far I can see, if anyone has scripture for this please show me.Now in all honesty tell me did not many of you think that there were three.

Luke 2:8- And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

2:9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
2:12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
2:15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
2:16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
2:17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
2:18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
2:19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
2:20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
Ok now to when they visited him? They visited him in the manager.

Ok now the other question joie that you asked***** What revealed to the Wise men about the birth of Jesus? His star.

Mat 2:2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Ok now my question? Where was Joseph at when he was warned to flee with his child? Where did the family go to live? I wish more of you would join in with this. We all can have fun and also learn from these things that we are asking.

Larry, as you know, I was having trouble with my vision last night and I did not see your question.  Now it is true,  The Word does not tell us how many Shepherds came to see the baby.  Nor does it say how many Wise men came.  I think that because they gave gifts of Gold, Frankensense, and Myrr, that it is assumed that there were 3 men and each one gave a different gift.  But there is no proof of this.

Now You did not fully answer my question as to who or what showed the wise men about the birth of Jesus.  To say they saw a 'star' and leave it at that is very misleading to people who do not know Scritpure Termenology.

So I will ask it again, what or who was that 'star'?  Give Scripture for the answer.

Matt.002:013 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
002:014 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

Now this shows that Joseph took Jesus into Egypt to live until Herod was dead.

002:023 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene

This is where they lived before Jesus was born and also where they returned to out of Egypt, Nazareth of Galilee.

Luke
001:026 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

This proved Mary lived in Nazareth before Jesus' birth.

This is the first time I have used the Holy Scriptures which I placed on our board way back, since I bought my cd.

But for anyone who does not know it, we have the Whole Bible stationary on our pages.  If you desire to copy from it, just click on it and then the place you want.  This saves having to type out the Scripture.

Mat 2:2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. ( His Star meaning Jesus)

Re 22:16 - I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

I have never questioned what was meant by His Star.  I have wondered how or what the difference would be with His Star, verses other stars.

There was so much more to learn and grasp, concerning salvation and grace, that for me,  never being raised a believer,  was of the utmost importance. Neither have I had the time, until now, to delve into deeper meanings.

But I am all ears, and ready to discern the truths of the mysteries of God.

Lolady, then you are in for the joy of your life as you begin to grow up in understanding the wonderful, hidden mysteries in God's Word.  It is the greatest joy in my life to have God reveal even one little thing to me.  sometimes he gives me LOTS of stuff at once;  then again He may just give me one tiny bit;  but it is all glory.

Now look at this:

Rev. 1: 20.  The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
See how Scripture has to interpret Scripture.  See here that he said the 'stars' are 'angels?'

.....the 7 stars,,,, are 7 angels.
So Jesus' star was his angel.  Now if you meant those stars we see up in the sky at night, you can see how carnal interpretations just do not do the job.  That is what most people think, thanks to carnal x-mas plays in whore churches.

No STAR up in the sky led those wise men to the baby Jesus.  An ANGEL did.  An Angel came to them and told them of Jesus' birth;  then later the same angel came and led to where Mary and Jesus lived in Nazareth.
