Hi Aalie, You know I am a Bible version collector. Today I got the "Alde en Nije Testamint út de oarspronklike talen oerset yn 'e Fryske tael" (1947) for the price of ?2 and 50 cents. I had already It Nije Testamint út it Gryks oerset yn it Frysk fen, by Dr. G.A. Wumkes, 1933, yn opdracht en ûnder taforsjuch fen it Kristlik Frysk Selskip for the price of ?3. I was very glad to got it. It is good to read in the Frisian language Filippenzen 4:6-7: "Haw yn gjin ding noed, mar lit jimme bigearten yn alles troch bidden en smeken, mei tanksizzing, bikend wirde by God; en Gods frede, dy't alle forstân toboppe giet, scil jimme herten en jimme sinnen biwarje yn Christus Jezus." Greetings, and God bless, Brother Elle. |

Hallo Elle, that is indeed good nieuws!! I sure would like to have one for that price especially. I have the Frisian Bible . I bought it when i was there in 2002. The only one I could find was by the Nederlandse Bijbelgenootschap, Haarlem en by the Katholieke Bijbelstichting, "s-Hertogenbosch. It has the Catholic books in it too besides the one s we use. I am not sure if the translation is really the best or not. I do enjoy reading it. Reading God's Word in my native language causes me to break down in tears at times. It is beautiful!
Are there any sites on the internet I could check out and order the one you have??
Thanks for letting me know this.
God Bless you,
Aalie

Hi Aalie, I found them in a second-hand bookshop. That's why they are not so expensive. I think the one you have is the new Frisian translation. If you like to have also the old translation of the Frisian Bible, please let me know, because then I will look for it in the second hand bookstore for another one. It's not always there. But I think that one will cost ?0 - ?0, and then post it to you will give also about ?5-10 more. I have looked for my own one pretty much time (years). Yes, our mother-tongue is always the one which is most precious to us, because it's from the time when we were young . Greetings and may God continue to bless you! Brother Elle |

Hi Bro. Elle, Thank you for sending those links. I may order some of the Frisian Bibles and books listed. Do not worry about looking for the old Frisian Bible translation. I have seen them before, and they are very hard to understand, because that is not the way I learned the language. It is too old. Not that I would not like to have one in my collection too, but if I cannot use it, it really does me no good. And when I pass on, none of my children know the language so I do not know what they would do with it.
I hope to be able to go to some second hand shops when I do go there again. There is a possibility that I may come in Feb of 2006. My daughter's church is sending a group to help build a church there, in Haarlem I believe, as a mission trip. I have been asked to come along.
God Bless you, Aalie

Hi Aalie, When you can't read it, it sure doesn't help you. But sometimes it's just funny to have one. I have a NT which is from Switserland (Swiss). It is from 1869, and the language is Retho-Roman, spoken by only about 35,000 people. It's a very strange language to me, but I like it to have it . In Switserland the language is German(65%), French(18%), Italian(10%), Retho Roman(1%). Greetings, and God bless, Brother Elle |
