It is going to be a lovely day here today.  Temps are to be in the 40's which while very much anticipated, will turn our yard into a mud bog.  The three dogs used the pathways we shoveled to the garage and such as personal potty area's most of the winter due to the deep snows.
They are now banned from entering the house through the patio doors due to it being carpeted.
Last year (talk about unfinished projects....) we were given all the patio blocks and paving stones from a friend who was redesigning his backyard.  Oh and a truckload of red brick that fellow had intended to use in a backyard grill project.  A LOT of manual labor to get all this stuff and bring it home.
So I am considering tackling the job of putting down a bunch of the nice big rectangle patio blocks around the side of the house to the garage in hopes the dogs and family can avoid SOME of the mud in the effort to control how much ends up in the kitchen.  Which is now where the dogs have to enter.
It would be temporary, they would have to come back out before lawnmowing begins.
I have a "Things To Do" list in front of me also, the majority of them being indoor projects.  I know they are all overdue and really need my attention.
So I am trying to make a "schedule of events" so to speak.  I think I will begin with the upstairs tasks, while I have the most energy and then work my way to the main floor projects until I simply can not stand to remain indoors any longer.
I think I will leave some of the most simple indoor tasks to be done later, in hopes that I will have some energy reserves come late afternoon, when I will need to come indoors anyhow.
Anyhow......this is my pondering for the midmorning!
So far I have not done a lot.  Have the grandson, so made breakfast and got him fed.  Picked up some of his toys in the DR, as the dogs (now with dry feet!  LOL) have been begging to come out of the kitchen to lay by the patio doors in the sunshine.
I am going to run some cleaning solution through the coffee pot in a bit as it took over 30 minutes to get a pot of coffee.  Yeesh hard water is tough on them.........

Well it is almost 1:30 and I am in for a break!  LOL, AND a BEER!
I have all the blocks laid down, now lets see if the dogs will follow my plan and actually use them to walk on instead of slogging through the mud and crud.
Had to rearrange them twice due to a couple of curves around the corners of the house, not a professional job, but it will serve the purpose and doesn't look to bad.  Wish I were stronger, there are really big hexigon ones that would have saved me a lot of messing around on those curves, but I just can't handle them yet.  As it is my messed up shoulder is talking to me, and my neck must have slipped out a little.  Can't even tip my head back to drink out of a can, using a straw!  Hubby will probably read me the riot act for doing something so physical without his supervision.
But I feel good about getting it done.  And he will appreciate the reduced mess also.
I grabbed a shovel and hacked through the ice and snow build up from the snowplow next to our horse trailer/camper.  There had to be a good 6 inches of water dammed up behind the drift.  I will have to go back out in a bit to see if I need to chip away more ice to let it flow all the way out.  Just put new tires on that thing last year and sure don't want them sitting in a pool of salty/sandy water.........
I cleared everything off the deck including a huge chunk of ice in one corner that I was finally able to break down in to managable chunks.  Now I can move the patio furniture back in place and actually enjoy this sunshine.  In fact when the grandson goes down for a nap (very shortly) I intend to put my feet up out there for a short while and just enjoy having that done and listen to the spring birds.  The dogs are LOVING the fact that the deck is cleared and they can lounge in the sunshine too.
Well, back to work............feeling good about what I have gotten done.
