Hi, I have made some progress because, as Greensleeves points out, "the threat of company" can be motivating. I have a new friend who has helped me a great deal in the community garden I started in my neighborhood. To thank him, I invited him to dinner. That meant getting rid of the mountains of papers on the dining room table - the only place to sit down and eat in my apartment... usually, I sit in the rocking chair and eat while watching TV, or I eat while standing at the counter -- these are the habits of a longtime bachelor, I am afraid... Well, some of the stuff just got put in a plastic bin, but in the course of doing just that, I did weed out a lot of crap... My friend, Andrew, is now planning to come over once a week, for dinner and a movie - because I write for a living, and because I work from home, there's a tendency to become a hermit... so Andrew is going to help me keep from pulling into a shell... plus we really enjoy each other's company... I even got inspired to get rid of a bunch of stuff on the kitchen counter, and I am more inclined to do my dishes before they pile up... Also, the little bit at a time is working, although I still feel impatient.

So, how are things going for the rest of you? Anyone else need some advice? -- Brenda
