my best advice comes from my cousin to me and boy, does it help me! dont fuss over not getting a whole room done in 1 go. do what you can in a day. even if its only sorting through a day or 2 of mail and filing it away or throwing it away.
 
too many times i get the "why bother" attitude! "why bother" starting this room when there is NO way i can finish it today! "why bother" clearing off this table when the rest of the room is so awful! "why bother" picking up those toys when there's so many other things in his room that need to be done and i dont have the time to do it today!

Tis weird, if I want to get the bathroom cleaned all I gotta do is polish up that faucet.  It looks so nice & shiny that it kinda motivates to polish up everything else & before ya know it tis clean.  That's cleaning tho not decluttering hmmm....
