Oh My, I remember telling my daugher as she screamed that she was being abused and was threatening to call authorities, what about parental abuse? Little did I know then about abuse. It felt normal, even when it did hurt. Thank Goodness she seems to be ok.  She is very angry at me for putting up w/ it. She is strong and passionate. 
 
The best thing I did was to walk in to the house after the husband had raged and been angry and I didn't need any more of it. he finially stopped and said what are you going to do about it???????
 
I said nothing.  It's her choice.  She turned it around at that point. 
 
I pray one day she will forgive me....
