I've been married for 3 years to a wonderful man and with him I acquired a stepson who moved in when we got married, now 17. I have gone rounds with this kid about EVERYTHING, mostly normal things like chores and the way he is toward my two daughters, 12 & 14 (not quite abusive toward the 12 yo, but verbal stuff). He disagrees with me about every issue, just for the sake of disagreement and to start an arguement. It's gotten to the point where we act like the other doesn't exist. I was on the groups forum looking for support when I came across this one. I knew he was "full of himself" and I chalked it up to having been an only child for 14 years, but I think it's deeper...
He has no emotion what so ever. When my girls' dog died suddenly at the age of 9, and we were coping with that and burying her and such, he just sat on the couch and watched TV. He actually used it as an opportunity to watch a show we don't normally let him watch when the girls are up. I suspect (DEEP DEEP in my brain) he poisoned her in order to get out of feeding her (his job is to feed the dogs, and he'd often "forget" to feed her. He HATED the fact that he had to feed our dog.)
He doesn't do anything that doesn't somehow help him in some way. (Including his chores, unless I remind him in front of his dad)
He thinks he's goint to go from high school straight to a pro ball career, and not have to go to college. He's good, but not THAT good! (We go to all his HS home games and definately are supportive of his HS carreer) and he gets PISSED when someone says "That may not  happen, you really need to be realistic"
There's much, much more...I don't have time to get into everything now, but is this Narcissistic disorder? Or am I dealing with a spoiled child who's mad about having to share his home & dad with a woman and her two daughters?
