Either of you read the "Texas" series ?  I think it was 4 or 5 books. Like Texas Heat, Texas Fury  etc... Can't remember the author just now, but boy was that series ever good. I passed it around to  a scad of women !  Actually I read just about anything, but some really stick in your mind...

Hey Sweetie!  Only kidding g/f!  I should check out the boards better than I do!

Haven't read the Outlander Series!  you guys have piqued my interest and I have seen that author in the library but haven't done much else about it!  Have been wearing my shoulders as earrings again and by jimmiknee they are hurting!  Maybe getting lost in Scotland is a VERRRRRRRRRRRRY good idea! ONLY WISH I REALLY WERE THERE!!! but that ain't gonna happen! mores the pity!

I can't recall Wild Angel hahaha  was that during my WILD reading??????  Lots of cold showers required!    "Wild Thing"  I DO remember that's part of the BAD BOYS series HOT HOT HOT definitely NOT " G" or "PG" some of those books may not make an "R" rating!

YES I CONFESS ~ I read smut!!!!!!!!!!!!  NOT all the time or I would go blind! LOL!

That Labrynith (one day I will learn how to spell it right) did tease me at the library last night but the size of it still scares me!  I should just take it and get lost!   We'll see tomorrow ~ if it's still there!

Sherry,
Thanks for remembering about my book club.  I must admit it is the highlight of my month.....  (No life, LOL)

Here is what we read this year:
Larry's Party in January  (so-so, not as good as the author's other books)

The Many Lives and Secret Sorrow of Josphine B in February.  A historical novel about Napoleon's wife written as a diary.  The first of a 3-book series about Josephine

Of Mice and Men in March - a classic - very enjoyable - lots to discuss in this one

The Working Poor in April - non-fiction - follows several working class families who seem to have no safety net

Small Island in May.  Novel about Jamaicans who emigrate to England.  I really loved this one.

A novel by John O'Hara - why can't I remember the name???  I even liked it - in June

The March in July - a novel about Sherman's March to the sea.  Interesting story weaving together stories of all who marched - soldiers from both armies, slaves, and slave owners.

The Known World in Sept. - a novel about blacks who owned black slaves in Virginia before the civil war.  I learned alot of history from this one.  Kind of a good companion novel to The March.

The Jane Austen Book Club in October - only one person in the group liked this one.

In November we are going to read The Memory Keeper's Daughter.  I put it on hold at the library and I am #541 on the list!  I think I will have to buy it LOL

What are you reading, Sherry?  Or do you have time to read???

Julie

Memory Keeper's Daughter is very popular at the library!  another for the list!  Dear me that list DOES get long!!!!!  Wish I could move and read at the same time!!!  Sitting still when I get lost does not help the bg's ! ! ! !

I am attempting to read the bio of Dorothy Parker.  and then some of her works ..... WHY??  strange reasons .... Gilmore Girls have DOROTHY PARKER DRANK HERE at the end of their credits ..... which led me to think that the quick and witty dialogue was based on her writing and remembering my cousin LOVED  DP and was the only one in the NYC audience who GOT the dry rumor of a show of DP ...............  hence the exploration into Dorothy Parker!

MJ,
The greatest thing about a book club is the way we choose the books.  Someone suggests something they have been wanting to read, but we don't select it unless everyone in the group agrees that they also want to read it.  So we do get a wide selection.  We read things we never would have picked up on our own.  There are 3 librarians in the group, including me.  There is a clinical social worker and the head of a city Housing Department.  We all are politically aware and tend to relate all the books to the current political situation, which makes things more interesting.

As far as moving while you read, read my other post on the Public Library thtread!  You will see why that is not always a good idea.  LOL

Good talking with ya MJ!  And all you fellow book-lovers!

I recommend the novel Full of Grace.  I won't tell you too much about it, because the element of surprise is important as the story develops.  I don't think I will ruin it to tell you it is set in Charleston SC, is about an Italian-American woman and her family, and concerns both romantic and spiritual themes!  Good humor too.

Enjoy!

Julie, thanks for the list from your book club. Of course I'd remember hon... I've been thinking seriously about joining one either at our local library or one of the book stores. Ha !  I NEED a life outside of this house and the book club is what I come up with.  Full of Grace  is on my list now too. Thanks !

Oh darn MJ...yes, they are paperbacks. And I was all set to package them up. And tiny print too, as well as HUGE books anywhere from 900 to 1400 pages. I am struggling on book 5, I need my new glasses badly. Maybe I'll get the call today that they are ready. Already been 3 weeks, but there is a story connected to that ! Grrrrrr....
Have to run and do labs soon, have a good day ladies and a wonderful weekend !
Sherry

Hi Sherry   glad to see you back   and glad to see activity here        I was on my way home    walking from the farmers market       and saw a woman standing in her yard holding a newspaper over her head       nosy me   I asked her what she was doing       she said "the F somthing[I don't remember the number] just went by and I'm waiting to see them when they come around again" so we stood there talking for a while and the subject got on books      I said my favorite books were the Outlander series      she said "I read those     I read every one    I loved them too"   we talked some more and then she pointed   I looked and a group of planes went by in a flash  they were silverey looking   and looked like a triangle or a shark's fin above water      I am glad I stopped

I bought    "Labyrinth" on e-bay when I read an article about the writer     I usually like big books but I put off starting it     but do not hesitate to get it       once you start ---it is page turning---it keeps your interest    so you get thru it in no time    I love books like that ----that grab you from the 1st page      have not found any like that recently   start a book     lose interest

Good Morning Ladies I hope you don't mind me jumping right in here.  My grandmom have all the Outlander series books some she have in hardback.  this morning she is going in the attic for me and get them out so I can read them.  She told me they are great books.  The most recent ones she said that she have now are the ones that Mrs Sherry posted.

As for me I'm a big James Patterson fan.  my aunt Martha has Every one of his books and she got me into reading him lol.  so I love reading his books.  I also love Mary Higging Clark, Mary Monroe,Mary Morrison, E.Lynn Harris,Nora Roberts,John Grisham,Sandra Brown,Patricia Cornwell & Nicholas Sparks. just to name a few lol

Right now I am about to wrap up Night by Elie Wiesel.  Today I plan on starting Two Little Girls in Blue by Mary Higgins Clark.

I love to read and can read any book as long as it hold my interest.  I am in several book clubs. Doubleday book club, black expressions book club  Literary Guild book club and crossings book club (it's a Christian book club)
