Keeping Track of Earrings

Do you have a hard time keeping up with earrings? Here's a
thought. I bought 4 plastic ice cube trays. In each of the cube
spaces I put a single pair of earrings. They stack easily and you
can see 12 at once and find the pair you are looking for in a
jiffy. This takes up very little room on my bathroom shelf also.

I use to have so many earring and had a cheap jewelry box with lots of small sections where a pair or two of earrings could be kept apart from each other.  But the above idea didn't sound too bad.  I didn't come up with this idea, but get thrifty tips from my email and thought someone might like this idea.      Nyda

I am a bit of a jewelry nut... and enjoy wearing all different golds... white,  yellow, rose separately or together... platinum and silver as well... additionally I have 3 holes in each ear so I love earrings and have quite a collection... I want everything to match so I have my jewelry sorted by type and color to make it easy to find stuff when I am in a hurry... so rather than keeping stuff in standard jewelry boxes I keep everything in clear section craft boxes... the kind you use for beads work great and you can get them in various sizes... works really well and they are cheap enough that you can bunches of them... they stack nicely just about anywhere... Babs...

That sounds great!Think I'll try it.My Mom made me an earring holder from a needlepoint canvas, stitched to a hanger(thick pretty plastic one). But I'll admit sometimes I get lazy& just put them on my nightstand.

That's a fabulous idea.......but it wouldn't work for me ...unfortunately.....because although I have a TON of earrings....(I am an earring freak too).....I wear bold earrings...and most are bigger than an ice cube.....lol.

I have one jewelry box...for my really good gold earrings........then I have about a dozen wicker boxes.....in which I have my earrings sorted by color.  Each basket holds a different color.  I usually wear earrings in the same color as my outfit or top.

I have gotten much better about buying so many....but even so.....I have several hundred pair.

Anyone have a good idea for storing necklaces?  ditto I have hundreds of those, too.....the gold ones I keep in the good jewelry box......but I have so many that are beaded and colored (matching the earrings)....and I've been keeping them in a big antique suitcase....which I keep open with antique silk scarves draped over it on my dresser.  I must downsize because it really is hard finding particular ones in a hurry.

Thats a lot of jewelry!! I hope somone has some idea for you to help out I loved Babs idea but probably not for so many necklaces. Perhaps your dh could make you something to hang them on with pegs on it, something where one peg could hold multiple necklaces.

Hmm! I always keep my necklaces on a clotheshanger. They can either be hung around the hook or you can get a pack of shower curtain hooks to put on the hanger.IOW, I keep all my jewelry in my closet.I keep my NICE jewelry(pearls & dressy beads)in my jewelrybox.

I finally got my standing jewlry chest. They make tie holders that can hold necklaces. I use the little craft boes for earrings.

My husband mounted several belt holders ( kind of like pegs, but thinner and hooked) on the inside of the doors covering my sweater shelves. ( They would also work well inside a closet door) Each hook holds several necklaces and because they're right by where my clothes are, it's easy and convenient to find a coordinating piece. I frequently borrow from my stock, so I always had way too many all over the place... now it's pretty organized.

Thats a nice idea Linda!  Have you heard about the new magnetic clasps for jewelry? its supposed to help those that have issues putting jewelry on. I would worry about the safety of using something like this. have you ever used it?

I was thinking on the line of the little sectioned craft boxes.  There are also a verity of clear pill boxes... they have lids so earrings wouldn't spill out.  I don't wear earrings cuz they give me a headache... don't laugh... it's true.  I also can not wear my hair up in anyway cuz the holders give me head aches.  So do headbands.  I love my long hair so Im not cutting it.  I just wear it straight down.  Strange  huh ?  As for necklesses.  I do have a lot of those.  I keep the beaded ones in a jewelry box that has a lot of sections.  The ones that are on short chains.. you will never guess.... I use coffee mug holders.   They are like a tree with a lot of hooks on them.  They can hold a lot of chains.  The longer chain ones I keep in the jewelry box with the beaded ones.
