The smell of oil and melting flesh scars the cemetary air.

The pyre tower sits on a ten foot granite tablet. The names of paladins, knights and cavaliers are carved by the tens onto the stones surface. Apparently Clan McFeargus knew the heart of valorious souls and this place was homeage to thier memories.

Flames lick some thirty feet high as the giant elm sits silent in the dark.

Only one person notices the passing of  Tro-aull and his bonded mount.

Eragor frowns at the sight of the pentagram.  This symbol was now the most hated thing in his life and he would do all he could to fight the one it represented.  He looks back to those burning on the pyre.  "May you find peace in the next life my friends, and fear not, you and all the others shall be avenged in this one."

Eragor stands and looks to Grizzlegrim.  "It looks like we have a similar enemy Master Dwarf.  I will help you find your tracker and will accompany you on your task, if you would accompany me on mine afterward.  I think however, that they will end up being one and the same."

The dwarf then probably thought the human very rude when he all of a sudden dashed past him, almost knocking him over.  This wasn't on Eragor's mind however as he ran to survivors of his home, a few of which he recognized (to what degree is up to the DM of course).  "And I you..." for a moment Eragor couldn't remember her name, she wasn't yet out of training yet.  Then it came to his lips. "Janelle correct?  I am Eragor."  He looks to the people that she had brought with her.  "Let's get everyone inside.  Master Grizzlegrim here and I were just discussing what the next course of action would be against Asmodeous."

The young woman felt as though the weight of the world had been taken off her shoulder's. Which in most ways it had been with Eragor's taking charge. "Yes, it is Janelle, Skyrider Eragor. We could all use a warm fire and a good hot meal. I was able to put togather a meal when Robert caught us some rabbits one day, but not much else.' The others nodded their heads in agreement behind her.

We have no wounds to be tended to. "By Lord Tyr's blessings I was able to heal up those in the group who were wounded." Her voice was soft as she revealed to him her full status as one of Tyr's Clerics. It still overwhelmed her. The flighty child had disappeared the moment the Temple was destroyed. Janelle carried the guilt-burden of having done nothing against the demon who had razed the Temple.

She walked quietly by his side, not really caring where they were going, but she had to ask- the others behind would expect it. "What village is this? Has it a good Inn,unlike the ones in Meodowvale where the mattresses move be themselves?" Her own face twitched in dismay. Even though she had scattered a bedbug killing on the mattress, it still looked far to alive for her, and she'd slept on the floor hoping the other rooms where not as bed. Janelle turning to look at Eragor awaiting his response. Her  sky-blue eyes semmed much to large for her pale face.

With Tyr's Blessings came a great deal of responsibilty Never before had she felt her inadequacy so strongy as she struggled to heal, keep alive, and be these people's leader. She had slept only long enough so that she was rested for her Prayers. As she prayed, Janelle had felt safe and strong.

"Yar, 'at sounds fair; I'll help you, if you help me.  Works for me so long's helpin' you means I get ta bash in a few heads," Grizzlegrim tells Eragor.  When he notices Janelle approaching and sees Eragor run off to meet her he asks, "Who's that?"  Overhearing their subsequent conversation the dwarf looks perplexed and says, "What's a Ozmodey-thinger?"  As the other two continue they're conversation he begins to become a bit frustrated, "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?  WHO ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE?!  ANSWER ME!"  Breathing heavily through clenched teeth, the dwarf glares at Eragor and Janelle.

The young Cleric stopped and stared at the foul mouthed,  foul smelling dwarf. His arragance roused her temper to its full icy proportion. Her voice was colder then a mid-winter storm as she adressed him. "'These people' survived far more then you, Dwarf, could imagine. They survived an attack by a nine-fingered devil that used a white moonstone to steal the fallen's souls and a six armed snake woman with her weapons inlaid with stones I have never seen before. The stones were purple, orange lavender and pink. We all watched as our freinds and family were tortured for no reason other then to cause them pain. They were servants of Asmodeous, the Prince of Evil who is struggling to get a firm foothold on these lands. Next time Dwarf, treat those you newly met with respect. You never know when it is someone with rank and power enough to casually order you dead."

Then she broke her gaze from him and stiffly continued the walk towards the village. "Tell me that the inn has bathing facilities, Skyrider Eragor, please." The old Janelle would have dissolved into tears at the Drawf's comments, leaving someone else to deal with him. The new Janelle was much stronger in her soul and it showed in her courage. Her eyes were much older now, all traces of frivolties and daydreams gone. The servants of evil had stolen the remainder of her innocence and childhood

Eragor had been about to let the dwarf in on what was going on, but Janelle got to it first.  When she finishes, he looks to the dwarf and shrugs, "That's pretty much all we know, that this devil destroyed our home and stole the moonstone from us... Though I didn't know of the snake woman."  He then looks to Janelle. "And I think it only has 8 fingers now, or it had 10 and was down to 9 when it encountered our home... It really depends on when our dwarf friend here ran across it."  Looking through the snow to the inn, he then speaks again.  "I do believe that there are bathing facilities, both of you need them.  We can find out about the tracker there as well."

When they reach The Twisted Root, Eragor holds back and makes sure everyone gets in alright before whistling loudly fro Strike to come to him.

As the impertinent woman begins to speak Grizzlegrim wrings his hands on the handle of his axe, wondering if he should cleave the wench in half. Then he hears her description of the devil who attacked her village. CLANG! The dwarven warrior dropped his axe. “Nine fingers yeh say? This wouldn't happen to be the tenth would it?” With that he throws the finger he had been holding on the ground at the woman's feet. Picking his axe back up, Grizzlegrim says, “I got ter be huntin' that one down. And any o' his friends, too. Yeh wouldn't happen ta know wheres about they went, now, would ya?” He lets the silly woman's threats pass for now; she looked like a kid, and she might have information. He knew that he might need what she knew to find his friends companions (or what's left of them). Scowling a bit he adds, “And we still ain't been inner-duced. Name's Grizzlegrim.”

Now turning to Eragor, the dwarf says, “I don't need no bath! Yeh tryin' ta make all them goblins out there think I'm some kinda sissy? Could use somebody that knows how to find this Asmode-whatsit guy though, so let's go already!” With that Grizzlegrim takes a swig from his wineskin and shakes his head back and forth a bit as he swallows. He then quickly follows Eragor into town.

Janelle stood her ground as the drawf glowered at him. As he threw the finger down, she looked at in disgust. "I know not it this is it's tenth finger or not. Perhaps a Mage or Higher ranked Cleric could use a spell to tell or show you whom it belongs. I only noticed it's nine fingers because on claw reached for and almost captured me."

Her face paled even more and it was clear this young Leader was utterly exhausted. "My name is Janelle, Acolyte of Lord Tyr."

Upon thier arival to the Twisted Root Tavern, Janelle allowed the others to enter before her. As the heat of warm room hit her the walls of the Tavern seemed to spin. Holding onto the back of a chair tightly, her soft brown eyes sought out the inkeeper.

As you all approach the inn you can see it's many windows glow as the need for candle light quickly ebbs. Outside a small man pulling a black cloak about him speaks with the two Brown farm boys. Apparently they were just leaving judging by the amount of swagger in each of thier drunken steps.

One of them holds the smaller guy by the shoulder and is poking him in the chest. The bigger of the two  stands behind the man w/one hand on his head.

As you pass they become quiet. They're about 15' from the entrance and to one side.

Inside Holga moves about as she prepares for the morning rush. Anyone passed out from the previous night she easily scoops up and sets in a corner booth in the back. There are only a few old men and a wore out widow this time.

Jarlosh stokes the stoves in the back and mixes the large decanters of juice and assorted milks at the front bar.

Seeing the newcomers from the corner of his eye he waves them in. Good morrow, good morrow. C'mon in out of the cold friends. Have a seat if ya like and holga shall to you in half a minute. Anythin I can serve ya while yer waiten?

Gracefully Janelle sank into a chair. Noddingat the others, she was grateful they  had followed her lead. Janelle was even more pleased to see how they had spaced themselves out, instead of sitting close by one another. She listened as each placed their order thinking that the idea of sharing out the gold had been a good one. The were acting like the proud folk they were rather then a bunch of sevivors.

For herself though she ordered but  a simple bowl of porriage and her one glass of milk for the day. She knew she was still growing despite her new responsibilties. Part of those were keeping herself nourished so that she could respond to her Lord's Will. Janelee had pryed this morning, despite her disturbed sleep. Visions of the attack had plagued her every veiw nights since it had happened. Now she wanted to put an end to the waking nightmare, so perhaps she could at least sleep through the night.

After  saying the Blessing, speaking loud enough so the others could hear she tucked into her porriage, not realizing how hungry she was. It seemed but a few moments afore the bowl was empty. Shaking her head at what must have been her horrid manners, Janelle set about sipping her milk slowly, to fill in the hungry spaces she still had.

Always though her attention was at the doorway, awaiting the arrival of Eragor

After rubbing down Strike and sending him off for his evening hunt, Eragor moves indoors to see that the survivors had seated themselves and were looking much better now that they were warm.  Rubbing his hands to make them warm again, he moves to where Janelle is seated.  "We'll be leaving in the morning.  I haven't decided if we should head back home and start from there or try to search for the culprits from where our Dwarven acquaintance last saw them.  What do you think?"

"Thank you for including me in this trip of yours, well now ours. If it was the same creature that attacked the Temple, then I suspect his friends may have gone home to the Gods they follow. I would suggest we go home and look about there since that was the last attack."
