First let me say...  the theory behind this board is to lose weight and get fit they way it works best for you... this is what worked and is still working for me...

Second let me say "THANK YOU" to all of you who have been such a huge support for me for the past 5 years...  from the old board to this wonderful board I have made so many wonderful friends and I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!

In 1990 I lost down to 166 pounds... and over the years I gained back up to my highest weight of 326 pounds... and was desperate to lose weight... so I tried everything.  I joined Weight Watchers, I tried Diet Center, I took pills for about two weeks, but they made me tooooooooo  jittery... so... after much soul searching and research on August 1, 2002 I had Laparoscopic Roux en Y Gastric Bypass Surgery.  In the first year I lost 106 pounds... in the last 10 months, I have lost only an additional 20 pounds.

Having said that... the surgery helped me lose about 100 pounds without much effort.  The rest of it has been a combination of my being able to exercise more, I follow the Weight Watchers Flex Points plan, and I have made other changes including journaling and belonging to the GF&HF board.   I would ideally like to weigh around 150 pounds, so I still have a long way to go... but I am much more likely to succeed now that I have come this far.

I hope that the fact that I had surgery doesn't change your opinion any.  I still have the same struggles with exercise, journaling, water and my plan that I did before I had surgery... it's just that now I am motivated to never go back there.

If you have questions for me, please feel free to email me at [email protected] and I will be happy to answer... I am truly an open book.

Hugs,
Micki

Changinging my opinion by the fact you had surgery??? Noooooooooooo !
Look back at the first 2 sentences you wrote.......this has worked for you! And having a surgery doesn't mean it all happens by itself, you still have to fight to get where you want to be!
So nope.....i didn't change my opinion....you look awesome!
Wanna date sometime?

NO matter what... weight is weight..and it is a struggle no matter how ya work YOUR plan....Maintaing is also another story...

So I am glad that it worked for you..and you are still hangin here with us here...and working your plan.  How ya got here doesn't matter... but how you keep at it is !!!  So good for you !!!

Micki it has been work to lose the weight. Even if you had the operation you still had to change your life everyday to make it work. I totally understand how hard you've worked to get this far. Don't ever think that because you had the surgery that you've done less work then us. You've worked hard to make it work. I'm so proud of you Micki... I always think of how great you've done. Keep up the super job girlfriend.... *your bestest buddy* Chara :)

Chara... Your absolutely right... It is still work reguardless of the surgery... You can't just have the surgery and expect it  to fix itself.  It still takes daily hard work and dedication !!!

Micki, I have personally known 2 people to have the surgery and it is work! So congratulations to you. You have worked hard and have been successful!

The lady I knew thought it would do it all by itself, needless to say it didn't and she has had tons of problems and has gotten no where.

The man, has exercised daily the whole neighborhood sees him every day cold, hot, snow and all. I have watched him walk from barely being able to , to a smaller version walking a little faster, to yet even smaller now running occassionally. I am so looking forward to seeing him run the whole block. He has trully had to work, he is  like you is a success.

Never let anyone take and make light of your accomplishment! You made a decision, you had to work at it just like the next person and you deserve a BIG CONGRATULATIONS!

Thank you for sharing your photos and story!

Thanks everybody!

Gosh! I had forgotten about this post!  Thanks for bringing it back up!

I can't believe that it's been 3 years since my surgery.  I have successfully lost 132 pounds and am struggling every day to maintain that and lose some more.  The journey has been long and winding... but I would absolutely do it all over again!

I am so blessed to have my "flat screen friends" as well as my friends and family that support me in whatever I do, including being by my side through all of this!

Hugs and love to you all,
Micki
