Well, a mixed bag to-day.  I did not go out which means a lot of little errans to do to-morrow.  The lady came from A.C.C. to say that they would give me  two and half hours, monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday and Friday  for the time when Jasmine comes home from school so that will be a help.  It starts when I get home from the hospital.  Did I tell you I also have been given a special card to park in the disability park, for the next six months.   My Doctor sen't for it, so that was nice of him, he is obviously thinking I am going to need it.

Things have been sorted for my friend, as her son and his girl friend had been to-gether for just two years, you have to be in a "live in" relationship for three years before you can call it a de-facto partnership, but it took a lawyer to sort it out, so the girlfriend doesn't have any rights so now the  Mother  and father are next of kin and make all the decisions, The most important being at the moment buriel or cremation.   My friend and the family want buriel.     But it was all very tense there for a while.  The funeral is on Thursday, unfortunately I won't be able to be there so I sen't a nice bunch of flowers with a candle in the center for it to be lit at the funeral, with just a simple wording on the card "Give me a light, that I might see my way into the unknown"

I feel so helpless  in her greif and loss.

Oh Tigs I do hope Robert has not got any necrosis, will keep all my prayers up for him.  Nice for him to have his friends visit.  It must be driving him crazy an active young boy having to stay in bed.  Lucky him thoug to have you  there taking charge at the hospital and keeping an eye on everything.  I have seen what happens here if there isn't someone sticking up for the patients rights.  The patients do not like to complain themselves.
They won't know whats hit them with you, a real Tiger looking after her cub.

Best of luck with your test results too Tigs.

Count me in Yvette with joining our group in Face Book.  How do you go about it?  Can't live without our "Ladies"

Red hope your not having trouble with your MSN again. Have a good day.

You say "as well as my Dad's second one" with his knee operations.  What happened to the first one  Oh don't worry I'm just nervous be allright when they knock me out, then when I come round will just have to get on with it and get better quickly.  Pr Op nerves that's what I've got

On a happier note, this morning I phoned down to Otago,  its at the bottom of the South Island and ordered my cherries for over Christmas.  Oh I do love my cherries I look forward to them every year.  It has now become a tradition.  Well, thats what I say anyway, must have the cherries

Enjoyed reading the first instalment of your holiday diary Tigs, I read it relaxing on the settee with a cup of coffee.  I printed it off and read it like  I had received a "snail" letter

Will wind up now before I bore you all to sleep.  Enjoy your day everyonenight night

Morning ladies
I'm so glad I waited before starting my post cos by the time I'd had a mooch around some facebook profiles you'd added your message Ann.

I am trying to start my day a tad earlier than usual as I have so much I need to do this morning before I leave for the hospital at 1.15pm. My appointment is at 2pm but this particular clinic is so busy, appointment times are merely protocol. Still, I don't complain as I now know from my own experience and meeting other ladies how significant underlying unknown very serious problems are found and women need to be squeezed in extra to the normal appointed quota in order to be seen and treated.

Oh Ann what are you like for 'looking into comments too deeply' lol If you think back carefully you'll remember my Dad fell out of bed onto his first knee hours after his op which set him back weeks we now realise after the fabulous 'quick' recovery after the second which he didn't bounce on the floor!
You are going to be absolutely fine as you are much younger than my Dad and have not left it as long as he did before deciding to have the op. You have all of us ladies praying for you for a speedy and safe recovery so you just can't fail.
Ann, is it possible for Bill to add in here or mail one of us for us to share with the group to let us know how you are progressing on a regular basis until you are up to adding for yourself. I would particularly like to hear asap after your op that all has gone well and you are feeling ok. It is such a long time waiting and wondering and not knowing what is going on and how you are if we have to wait until you are well enough to say hello for yourself. Pretty please Bill.
Are you going to have an epidural or a general anaesthetic? My Dad had an epidural as he has diabetes and high blood pressure and because of these and his age they wanted to keep him relatively 'awake'. Although he did have some other kind of drug as well which meant he was relaxed enough to sleep through it all but could have been woken enough to make responses should the team have needed that. So as a result he can't remember anything of the op.

I'm so pleased to hear that the young mans parents have got the decision making rights, rights they no doubt wished they weren't having to exercise. Loss of any kind is awful but when it's unexpected and one so young it is a real tragedy. I'm not sure I'd have the strength to cope with that and I pray that God will never give me the opportunity to find out.

Great news about the assistance and the disabled badge Ann, every little helps as they say and there you go again delving too deeply into the reasons behind why you've got the badge! Just enjoy the facility of having it. lol

Love the tiger/cub comments and the piccie. You are so right in what you say, I very rarely bare my teeth - well maybe at Wac more than I like to admit to - lol but I fight tooth and nail if things aren't as they should be for my boys.
If I can't get the result we want/need then no one can!

Thanks Ann for yor good wishes for both myself and Robert.

Think you will more than deserve your cherries this year Ann in fact you can have my share cos I'm sorry to say it is something I don't like.

Gosh it's almost 9am already..wonder if I have time to add last Monday's holiday report? That's if I can remember what we did! lol

Have a great day all, and Ann as you prepare for the hospital, do so with a positive frame of mind and focus on this time next week when you are over the worst and working towards getting back on your pain free feet - well pain free knee! but you know what I mean. Certainly by christmas you'll be so good on your pins you won't believe it's not that long sine you had such a serious op.

Monday the 3rd of November 2008, location Malta!!

Monday is market day in Mosta so that is where we ventured to in the morning. We breakfasted at around 8.30am and then only had to walk a short distance to the bus stop from the hotel. Bus route map in hand, I studied the various options that would take us to Mosta. We had a choice of 3 buses but concentrated on only two of them as the fare was 47c each as opposed to 1.16c on the third but that was an 'express' service, but it wasn't any good to us as we'd have been paying more than twice the fare for a part of the journey which was identical whichever bus you took. However, as always, the buses were chokka at this time of the morning especially as it was market day so we saw 5 buses pass us fully laden before we finally got on one and then had to stand for the entire journey. At that point I would have even caught the 'express' had it meant we could get on a bus! Standing on one of the old Malta buses on some of the roads that haven't been resurfaced is no mean feat!

The market was busy and it was interesting to see stalls laden with winter clothing being viewed by locals wearing jumpers and jeans whilst I 'glowed' slightly wearing a sleeveless cotton blouse and knee length cotton skirt and sandals and was still a tad too warm for me!

I saw a lovely selection of sweaters in different patterns in red/black with a feel of cashmere but at 5 euros each they obviously weren't! I tried one on - over the top of my blouse I hasten to add, liked it and bought it. It seems to have survived one wash as it has been in the machine since returning home before I wear it for the first time.
I was tempted by other things but resisted as it doesn't do to buy too much whilst Wac is woth me.

As it was only midday  by the time we'd seen all the stalls- ooh scuse me I think the window cleaner is about - phew! no he isn't! Now where was I...oh yes midday in Mosta in 75f and sunshine.

Quick discussion with Wac and we decided to bus it into St. Julian's. The bus took us via the in road route of Malta and it was nice to pass through all the little towns and villages we hadn't seen in quite some time. We even passed by a McDonald's we'd had a very quick lunch at one day when Wac's Dad was very poorly and we'd reluctantly left him to get a quick bite to eat before resuming our bedside vigil. At that time we were sorting out a lot of financial things for Wac's Dad and Wac carried his back pack around with all his Dad's papers and a significant sum of money which we were using to pay for things. We left the McD's and were a little way up the street on the way back to the car when I realised Wac had left the back pack behind!!!!  Fortunately the place was quiet and the bag was were we had left it. Someone would have had a nice time spending the Lm6k!!!! To this day we still can't believe he did that as he had been so OTT about keeping the bag with him or in sight no matter where he was.
Any how I digress....

In St. Julian's we had our lunch in yet another fave restaurant of ours which overlooks Spinola Bay, and you can see Sliema at the other side of the bay which is the next town along. I had a lovely pizza washed down with diet coke as I didn't want to have any wine as it made me sleepy on Sunday after two glasses and when we returned to the hotel at 5pm I kind of slept a little before we went to the cinema at 9pm.

We had a walk around St Julian's and went to Portomasso which is a beautiful harbour that has been improved and a Hilton built there as well as a gorgeous marina where some superb boats are moored. We had a sit on the harbour wall, well I sat and read my book a while and Wac sprawled out sunbathing. The wind on my face cooling the suns rays was wonderful. Whilst on holiday I read three books and always took one out with me as I hate to sit and daydream whilst Wac has a sunbathe so he could quite happily snooze for as long as he liked without me getting restless.

Bus back to the hotel and enjoyed a welcome cuppa.

I rang Robert and he assured me all was well and I reinforced the need for them to keep on top of any mess they make so that the house would be acceptable for when we got home.

As it grew dark quite early  ie 5/5.30pm we didn't do what we usually do of an evening when it's the summer which is get showered and go for a walk and have a meal at a nice restaurant. Instead we chose to have a 'hearty' breakfast and then eat a combined lunch/dinner mid to late afternoon.
So having already eaten we decided we'd go to the cinema again. This time we saw Road to Rodanthe....I loved the first bit, well the first two thirds but then....well won't spoil it should anyone wish to see it for themselves.

Monday done and time to do battle with the lumpy pillows and hammock type mattress. little did I know that by Wednesday my back would be suffering from the awful bed I was sleeping in.

Welcome Home Tigs!!!  Love the stories of your travels, and I know the exact pillow you speak of as I think all our rooms we had rented on our trip had the same ones.  Like a terrible bowl of oatmeal.  4 on each bed as a matter of fact.

I have never traveled on a double decker bus, it sounds lovely to tour the city that way.  Taxi's are an outrageous expense here, too.

I did recieve your envelope, and as promised it sits on my hutch awaiting me to tear it open, lol.  I will post pics to prove that fact if you like

OH ANn I am so thankful that family does not have to battle for their sons burial rights. What a horrible thing that would have been to go through.  I pray for them to find peace within themselves.

My MSN is seeming to be fine the past few days,  but I am busy lately.  The weather allows for lots of things to be done outside, lots of raking to begin with the fall leaves coming down.  The dogwood trees are a brilliant reddish orange and so  lovely in the yard.

My Joe has been laid off at work for a few weeks. His boss is awaiting his liscense for moving government jobs so that will put them all back to work soon.  A mini vacation for Joe and he will not know what to do with himself by the end of the week.
TIms friends have been here a week tomorrow and have yet to seek employment, so I am not sure how this will pan out.  Mike's g/f came with him and she has a huge cold sore on her lip,  YUCK, and I am weary of that.  It is healing up now and just small, but YUCK.  Creeps me out to look at he with that thing.  I try not to make her uncomfortable about it, as I am sure she wishes she didn't have it. but YUCK!!

Gizmo has been groomed and I am about to tackle Maggie. She does not appreciate it as well as Gizmo does.  I got the new dog nail clippers so I am going to try that on them soon, but for now I am getting them used to the thing and the noise it makes. It sounds like a vibrator, lol, and Gizmo loves me to run it down his back.

TIme I move along, as I want to get Maggie brushed out really good before her bath.

have  a good day and once again Welcome Back Tigs

Lol and thank you Red.
A pic of proof that your envelope is still intact won't be necessary and kudos to you for leaving it in sight and not touching it. I'm impressed!

.....I take it you don't like cold sores Red? pmsl

at the 'sounds like a vibrator' comment.... I must have led a sheltered life as I've never heard one.I presume you have though.  pmsl

Now then...good evening ladies as I am about to retire to bed. A long day ahead of me tomorrow with the day kicking off with B-Sure (Chlamydia testing) training at 9.30am. From there I shall go to our new office which everyone else moved to last week whilst I was away. Should be interesting finding our new offices as they are in a massive old rambling building which I have only been in once before on my start day of this job. I suppose I could always stand in reception and send a text to my boss saying HELP!!! and wait till she comes and rescues me! lol

Then we have two clinics with a decent break between so I should be away till 10pm tomorrow. It has to be done though as I need to recoup the hours I have lost this evening by having the night off. Typical isn't it, I expected to be hours and hours like I usually am at the hospital and instead I was out in 40 mins. 20 of those I had arrived far too early for my appointment. But it ensured I was first in.

I saw a female Dr today who asked how I was to which I replied very well. She gave my tum a good pummelling by way examination and also did her bit with the dreaded cuscoe/speculum.
My blood count was 13.5 - an average reading should be 12 so that was very good. Dont know what the ratings were for my renal bloods but she said they were highlighted because they are on the low side which again is very good and unusual.
Last but not least the dreaded Ca125 reading was 10. Mine has to be below 15 because that is what it was before I had my op so that is used as a baseline for me. Anything above that is a no no, but a score of between 1 and 32 for people who haven't had cancer is fine.

I have to go back in 4 months time but can book an appointment at anytime inbetween if I am concerned about anything. Phew I'm glad that is over!

I then went to visit my elderly aunts who live in Blakburn as I haven't seen them for quite some time.

Now I am going to 'pen' Tuesday's holiday diary and start a new day off as I won't have time to do that in the morning.

*shakes head in the hope of remembering that far back*
