         Great questions!Sounds like you have alot to work with.Sounds beautiful as well.First ,I tried repeatedly picturing what you were describing to me.It sounded like you were describing the front entrance/foyer area to the family room or main living room.Is there anyway you could either scan a photo to here or even do a quick sketching of the layout?I dont excpect artistry(unless of course you are one).Just a drawing of the layout in which you are speaking and the entrances in & out(including the cloumns).

  As far as the sofa goes(please if ya can-place it in your sketch?)I wouldnt worry toooooo much about the colors not being the most enhancing for that area(Feng Shui wise).If its possible to pull in some green accents(be it a pillow or picture frames flanking either side of the sofa-wall or table)something that represents the green color cure for that area.Something really saying-THIS GREEN IS FOR POSITIVE ENERGY !Dont just grab a pillow with a green section on it somewhere.   BUT--(YES THE BIG BUT!LOL)----You mentioned youre husband really hates the sofa & you love it.Youre husband sitting with you,relaxing,watching TV or socializing on this sofa cant be filling him with a good energy.Whether you realise it or not-a piece of furniture that either of you HATE or even strongly dislike will send entirely too many negative vibes around the room.Little bickering or feelings of discontempt towards each other could be results of the negativity surrounding your subconscienses because of something as small as him hating the sofa.SOOOOOOOOOO,maybe (since you love it so-dont want you selling it for something else & you having the negative vibes towards him & the 'replacement sofa')finding something in the house that he really loves & isnt particularily a fave of yours and making it work in that area.(yes maybe even his football or beer knick knacks lol).This will  definitley make the energy the two of you have there incredibly positive and in turn make it a positive energy source.

     As far as putting it in your bedroom ,you definitley want his negativiy towards the sofa rearing its ugly head in the BEDROOM OF ALL PLACES!!!!!!!If the bedroom is large enough to accomadate it and he agrees it would be an enhancement to your bedroom-then okay.Relaxation,privateness,intimacy & comfort are the main focus for enegergies in the bedroom.The fact that the red would be in your fame area in that room would also be a plus!So discuss these options with him-see what you come up with.

      As far as the mirror aspect of room----in Feng Shui-they say to avoid it when possible & defintiely never allow your reflection in it to be facing the bed where you would see it while in the bed.If needed for dressing--a door mirror would be best and would reflect the intimate energies back into room(make sure its reflecting something positive & not closet clutter etc).Also,the couch under the window isnt the best option -----if you can keep a decent distance between them it would be best!Could you catty corner it anywhere?
