Crane represents balance and majesty as well as patience and perseverance. Crane is focused concentration. As Crane stands in the water of the marsh, there is no motion. Every cell of Crane is concentrated around Her feet. The result of this concentration is a phenomenal ability to locate food.
Crane's visit tells you to pay more attention to your immediate surroundings. You may be missing an opportunity to discover the oil well in your own field, as you stare over the fence, marveling at the neighbor's green pasture. Or, in the opposite direction, Crane may be warning you of an opportunity walking by, as you watch your feet.
A common reaction to Crane's presence is calm and peace. You may also be receiving the message to relax and take a break or vacation, and you should consider taking it near water.
Crane is considered within many tribal cultures to be a sacred bird. Its symbol within many traditions represents the triple aspect Goddess - the Three Muses, the Three Fates, the Sisters of Wyrd. It is said to be one of the first birds to greet the sunrise and to have the ability to predict rains and storms. In human sense, it teaches us to predict the 'emotional' storms of human nature. Cranes dance in circles and their dance has long been associated with underworld (otherworld) guides; leading souls in and out of incarnation.
Crane teaches us patience, it stands perfectly still for endless hours observing until the moment is right. It teaches us to remain focused - to concentrate without distraction. On the other hand it may also be telling us that we are over focused, spending to much time alone, which can create feelings of isolation and separation - the key is balance of time for yourself and time spent with others. Is it time to be alone, or to join the collective dance, to join in the formation of the greater message danced by the flock.... When out of balance, ask yourself what knowledge it is within that you deny, and to what extent any negative behavior may be a reflection of this denial.
